So when this blu-ray collection landed in my hands, I couldn’t wait to restart the tradition of Christmas movies playing in the background or the family gathering around the TV, drinking hot cocoa and watching some of my favorite movies.

I could continue my ramblings of my love for these Classic Christmas movies, but it would probably become more long winded than Yukon Cornelius. So let me make it clear and simple: I love these stories. The adventures each character goes through to grow and become something more than just an image on the screen is far beyond what we see today…Or at least I think so. Take Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, it is a perfect movie to show what bullying can do to someone who is just a little different. It also shows how one needs to be strong because a brilliant light could be around the next iceberg. Frosty the Snowman teaches us to share and be kind, Santa Claus is coming to Town teaches us that a little kindness can melt even the coldest hearts and that everyone needs a little fun in their life. No matter how old you are, these films not only have a message, they are entertaining and contain the most lovable Christmas Characters.

Before the shopping, the mad rush for the stores and the best deals, before people go insane for sales and Black Friday door busters, I would like to take a moment and remind everyone that this week is much more than consumerism. This week is a time to reflect on what we have, what we have gained and what we are most thankful for. Like so many, I will admit that I sometimes forget to look at what I have and give thanks. That is why we need this day. Sure the food is wonderful and the shopping is…chaotic.. but there is nothing like family and friends getting together to spend time with each other and being thankful for everything we have and the blessings we receive.

Being thankful is not limited to physical items, it can also be for something not necessarily tangible but just as important. For example we can be thankful for the love in our lives, our health and even the rights we posses. It wasn’t long ago when women were not considered equal to men. Women had to fight for their rights and make their voice heard. That is why it is so important to recognize what we have and what we need to do to keep moving forward.

I have spent most of the #19DaysofSuffrage asking all of you to think about what it means to you to be a woman, what changes need to occur to make it better and how these changes can be made. There have been some amazing answers from many of you! Here are just a few that I find incredible.

These comments are awesome and I would like to continue this amazing momentum. Therefore, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, this week I want to change it up a bit. I want all of us to reflect on what rights we are thankful to have. Comment your answers below. Is it the right to vote? The right to free speech? Or perhaps you are simply thankful for the right to choose?

I will start with my personal thanks. I am most thankful for the right to speak my mind through writing and/or speaking. There was a time when women were seen and not heard. Women suffered in silence and scorned if they spoke. With my loud voice and my love of writing, if I had lived in that time, I think I would have died a little inside each day. I say, “Thank You” to the women before me, who struggled and fought to give me and the women of today a voice.

Unfortunately, not all women enjoy the rights much of us have. So While you are thinking of the rights you are most thankful for, remember that many women are still struggling for even the most basic rights the #fightsnotover yet!
