I received an opportunity to watch this film ahead of the release to give the SKGaleana review. here is what I thought:

When Alpha and Omega: Journey to Bear Kingdom first starts we find Stinky, Claudette, and Runt disobeying their parents by entering the Eastern Forest to see Queen Bear and Princess Canue. The pups know that they will be in big trouble if they get caught in Rogue Wolf territory…but that doesn’t seem to impede their decision to meet royalty. However, the event is not quite as glorious as they thought. Rogue Wolves, with the help from traitorous bears, descend upon the celebrations to take (and probably kill) the Queen and Princess Bear. With the pups help, Princess Canue escapes the clutches of the Rogue Wolves and flees to the Western woods.
While the rescuing of the princess, the queen, and Bear Kingdom are the goals within Alpha and Omega: Journey to Bear Kingdom, there is one little important detail worth mentioning.
This film actually gives credit to the parents.
Recently I have noticed that movies have started depicting parents as unintelligent and not worth listening to because they just don’t understand the world. It is a heartbreaking theme that can cause a bit of a rift between parents and children. In Alpha and Omega: Journey to Bear Kingdom, while Stinky, Claudette, and Runt disobey their parents, like kids do, they also share the fact that their parents have taught them what they need to know to survive.
In one particular scene, the pups and Princess Canue are running from a rogue wolf. Claudette sees a large canyon and decides to execute a maneuver her mother taught her. By disturbing up a bunch of dust, the pups hide the canyon from the rogue wolf’s view. They then slide out of the way with a special move allowing the rogue wolf to fall into the unseen canyon. Thanks to her mother’s teachings, Claudette knew how to escape the clutches of the evil rogue wolf.
I find this “giving parents credit” theme refreshing. It is natural for children to do things on their own and break the rules, but when they do, they have their parents teachings to help guide them and lead them back home. Because of this one little scene, I was happy letting my family watch Alpha and Omega: Journey to Bear Kingdom; it gets my seal of approval.
