“Solo” is the Perfect Story of Han Before the OT

Once the Expanded Universe became Legend, many questions faced us Star Wars Fans: What incident caused the Millennium Falcon to look like a hand flying through space? How did Han meet Chewbacca and is the Life Debt still in play? What is so special about the Kessel Run? Thankfully Solo: A Star Wars Story actually highlights many of the questions about our beloved fandom. Today, Solo: A Star Wars Story is released digitally, and it will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD September 25.

As a die-hard fan for all things Star Wars…Yes even the pre-trilogy… I couldn’t wait to see the new Solo movie. I wanted to see where Han Solo came from, how he met Chewbacca, and just what choices led him into deep water. Solo: A Star Wars Story did not disappoint.

The movie starts with Han on Corellia, stealing in order to survive. It isn’t long before he and Qi’ra plan an escape, which goes completely wrong. No surprise there, we are talking about Han after all. This theme of failed attempts at escaping flows well into the original trilogy with Han. Word of advice…Never follow Han in an escape plan. It a;ways winds up with the Empire and a certain amount of pain. Or ending up down a space slug’s throat. Han certainly never has a dull moment.

Of course the connection to the original trilogy doesn’t end there. Once Han swears to come back and save Qi’ra, He goes on a massive introduction to the original trilogy adventure. We find Han becoming an imperial officer, finding Chewie, joining a band of galactic smugglers, meeting Lando, falling in love with the Millennium Falcon, and even making the Kessel run. To top it off, we even have a surprise guest at the end.

Making the Kessel Run

I enjoyed the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story immensely. It brought back so many feeling of my childhood when I first sat down and watched A New Hope. I found myself Laughing, crying, and totally immersed in the Star Wars Universe. Solo truly feels like a Star Wars story and it belongs in the movie lineup to be watched right before the Original Trilogy begins. Who could ask for more when it comes to Star Wars? I give it a well deserved 5 stars!

Actually, I know exactly what us fans can ask for…how about some hilarious concept art. I think Chewbacca may need a hair cut in some of these. hahaha
