4th of July Strawberry and Stripes Cake Decor

This delicious DIY cake decoration has strawberries and blueberries arranged to capture the essence of the American Flag represents. While it may not contain all 50 stars or all 13 stripes, it will give off that 4th of July independence day vibe with colors of red, white and blue. Add it to your next barbecue for a delicious dessert and a wonderful conversation piece.

Strawberry and Stripes Cake Recipe

This recipe doesn’t include a cake recipe. It requires an already baked 9 x 13 inch rectangular cake. Below are the ingredients and items needed to create the Strawberry and Stripes Cake. Follow the instructions on how to decorate the cake for best results. However, this is a DIY project and anything similar can be done. For example, replace the strawberries with another red fruit, like raspberries, and still pull off the American Flag image. It can then be called Raspberries and Stripes Cake. Cherries or red grapes could also make a great substitution.

Strawberry and Stripes Cake Decoration Instructions
Items and ingredients needed:

  • A rectangular 9 x 13 cake (your choice of flavors)
  • Cake Tray
  • White Whipped topping
  • 48 blueberries + extra for the base
  • 36 strawberry halves
  • The amount of berries listed is a general estimate. The amount of blueberries and strawberries is relative to the size of the berries. If the berries are small you will need more of them to complete the Strawberry and Stripes Cake flag.

    Directions

      1. Frost the entire cake with the White Whipped Topping.
      2. In the Upper left hand corner place 48 blueberries in a rectangle. Place 8 blueberries across and place 6 down, evenly spaced apart (see image).
      3. Start at the end of the top line of the blueberries. Place strawberry halves down into the frosting in a straight line across the cake. Conitnue this patter right below the first line of strawberries to form the stripes of the American flag. there will be about 6 lines depending on the size of the strawberries.
      4. Add extra blueberries around the sides of the cake to add a little festive decor..
      5. Display and enjoy!

    Answer: the 50 stars represent the 50 states that make up the United States of America. The 13 stripes that alternate in red and white represent the first 13 colonies.
