Get ready for a season of Jake as Adventure Time, the complete fifth season, gives the fans a ridiculous amount of momentous Jake moments. With episodes like “Jake the Dog” and “Jake the Dad”, season five promises and delivers everyone’s favorite magical dog in settings that are both goofy and strange. The Adventure Time Complete Fifth Season comes out on Blu-ray and DVD July 14th with 52 rad episodes and an exclusive behind the scenes featurette!
By now fans have grown accustomed to the unusual art, characters and theme as viewers are brought through the post-apocalyptic land of Ooo with Finn and Jake. Season Five brings even more to the scene with Finn becoming a dimensional traveler, Jake having parental problems, crazy rulers, lost loves, and more. There are even hints of the terrible “Mushroom War” that ravaged the land leading to the events they face now. This potentially horrible post-apocalyptic world is covered up by the characters uncanny ability to keep moving forward and working to better their surroundings and their love life using happy songs or, perhaps, a horse named James Baxter that can make sad people feel better.
Adventure Time is certainly an unusual cartoon. It consists of episodes that are only 11 minutes long with short stories featuring characters from the land of Ooo such as Princess Bubblegum, The Ice King, The Flame Princess, Marceline, Beemo, Finn, Jake, and so many more. However, parents should lean towards the side of caution before allowing small children to watch Adventure Time. Not only is there some language that is not appropriate for very young kids, but there is violence and iffy imagery. Common Sense Media makes the suggestion that this PG rated TV series should be watched by children ages 10 and up, stating,
The show is rooted in fantasy and absurdity, which is fun for older kids and tweens who can get the references and irony and separate it from reality. Youngsters, however, might be confused and get iffy messages from Finn’s unlikely carefree lifestyle. Cartoon-style violence (flame guns, swords, etc.) is common throughout the show, but generally aimed at creatures like zombies, rather than living beings.
Due to these concerns, I suggest that parents view the episodes first to decided whether or not their child should be allowed to watch Adventure Time.
The Adventure Time Season 5 Blu-ray/DVD will contain all 52 episodes. That adds up to more than 9 hours of Adventure Time fun, music and vibrant art. Fans will want to watch this season for the “Whoa” moments and the crazy bombshell at the very end.
The Blu-ray comes packaged in a custom slipcase featuring everyone’s favorite magical dog Jake, adding to the collectible custom die-cut slipcases from the previous season releases. Meaning the case will blend perfectly with your entire collection. You can grab a copy of each of the previous releases by following the links to Amazon.com
