A Good Feeling About LEGO Star Wars Droid Tales

Tomorrow, March 1st, 2016, the Lego Star Wars Droid Tales collection is released on DVD with all five episodes that aired on Disney XD! The collection features C-3PO, R2-D2, Leia, Han, Luke, Ackbar, and more in LEGO form! Best of all, Anthony Daniels voices C-3PO!!! Your good feeling about this movie will never turn into a bad feeling about this movie and it will remain a good feeling about this movie! So grab this LEGO Star Wars collection, sit down with some popcorn and get ready for an epic LEGO Star Wars adventure!

The story begins just after the Battle of Endor and the celebration of their victory. C-3PO receives his memory from R2 and begins telling the story of The Phantom Menace and the Attack of the Clones. Unfortunately, R2-D2 is Droid-napped by a MYSTERIOUS CAPTOR and C-3PO must rescue his best friend with the help of Admiral Ackbar and his ship, Daisy Mae.

The whole series revolves around C-3PO’s quest to find R2-D2 and rescue him from the MYSTERIOUS CAPTOR. C-3PO’s determinations leads him across the Star Wars universe with stops in Coruscant, Mos Eisley, and Geonosis. At each stop, C-3PO regales the people he meets with epic Star Wars Saga tales involving himself and R2-D2 (hence the title Droid Tales). You could quite literally catch up on the whole sage by watching these five episodes before you watch The Force Awakens. However, the stories are a bit different than I remember them so I am guessing C-3PO’s memory was a little damaged after the three decades of war. For example, I don’t remember C-3PO serving as a Flight Attendant on Bail Organa’s ship…I wonder if this is canon now…

Nor do I remember Luke and Han “bumping” into an imperial probe droid and explaining that their reason for being on Hoth was to Snow Board. Although, if that were the case, I would so join them.

And I know for a fact that Emperor Palpatine never joined the Ghost crowd at the end of Return of the Jedi. Although, this is really funny and a great addition to the story.

With the changes also comes LEGO Star Wars hilarious additions to the plot. I found myself laughing through the whole series. One part in particular had me almost rolling on the floor to the amusement of everyone in the room. Maybe it is just my sense of humor but the whole “Danger Signs” and “Red Flags” from Watto had me unable to breath from laughing so hard. It made me love LEGOS and their animated series even more.

Actually, I think any Lego and/or Star Wars fan will have a good feeling about LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales. Let me just say, this is not just for kids! Adults will love this as well. There is a ton of fan humor for us adults and there is plenty of animated Lego adventures for the kids in the room. In other words, this is fun for the whole family! Let’s not forget that it has Anthony Daniels, which makes this whole thing beyond epic and a 5 star rating in my book. I would have made it the uber rare 6-star rating if James Earl Jones had voiced Darth Vader.

Whisker Haven Tales Coloring Page of Miss Sophia

Miss Sophia is a Critterzen sloth from Whisker Haven. She is a sweet-natured sloth that loves snacking and hanging out in the tress of Whisker Woods.

I haven’t seen her in any of the epsisodes yet, but she was featured on the Disney Whisker Haven Tales with the Palace Pets Facebook Page. This could mean she may be in a later episode, or she was in an episode that I missed.

Miss Sophia is a brown Sloth with brown and pink dyed hair. She has a cream-colored face, purple nails, and brown eyes. Her fashion accessories are a blue polka dot scarf, a kitty headband, and gray leg warmers.

The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar comes out today on Disney DVD and Digital! Inspired by the Lion King, The Lion Guard welcomes an all new generation to Africa and the animals that live there. The Lion Guard features Simba, Nala and their two children Kion and Kiara. Kiara is destined to rule the Pride Lands and Kion is still finding where he belongs, that is, until he receives the gift of the Roar. The Roar of the Elders makes him the new leader of the Lion Guard, which protects the Pride Lands and defends the Circle of Life. Free Blastipede Coloring Page from Slugterra

Blastipedes are an uncommon slug that look less terrifying then they actually are. At first glance they appear to be useless as they seem to have no real attack ability. At 100 mph, Blastipedes drop what look like tine blue rocks and then transform back into their protoform. Rookie, in the episode, “Bandoleer of Brothers” thought he was useless because he had no idea how his attacked worked. However, a Blastipede has the ability to detonate the mines they throw by touching their two antennae together. When Rookie accidentally discovers this, he rescues his friends and becomes a valued member of the Shane Gang.

Blastipedes are yellow with reddish-brown heads and blue antennae. They may not look like much, but they can pack a punch with their explosions.

Disney’s The Lion Guard Free Printable Activities

This Tuesday February 23, 2016 marks the release of Disney Junior’s newest movie, The Lion Guard, inspired by the original Lion King. The Lion Guard follows Simba’s son Kion as he discovers who he is and the strength he has inside when he is given the gift of the Roar of the Elders. The Lion Guard And The Epic Nod to The Lion King

Disney Junior brings forth an all new movie called “The Lion Guard” February 23, 2016, inspired by the big hit movie The Lion King. I got the chance to review The Lion Guard and watch Kion’s epic journey as he formed his team and accepted the responsibility. I found it to be a wonderful story with adorable characters but I loved all the nods to the original Lion King movie.

The story features original characters Simba and Nala and their two kids, Kiara who will be Queen, and Kion who is still finding his place in the Pride Lands. “The Lion Guard” follows Kion as he discovers his place when he receives the gift of the Roar of the Elders and his sudden appointment as the leader of the Lion Guard. The Lion Guard is a team of ‘lions’ that protect the Pride Lands and defend the Circle of Life. As leader, Kion must recruit four other members who are the bravest, fastest, strongest, and have the keenest of sight. Simba leaves these decisions to Kion, thus starts Kion’s epic journey of forming the Lion Guard and finding his place in the Pride Lands.

Like many Disney Junior movies, there is usually a message of growth or teaching. The Lion Guard is no different. It teaches the lessons of believing in yourself, having faith, and standing together. Kion must learn to believe in himself as he creates the Lion Guard team. He asks Bunga the Bravest (a Honey Badger), Fuli the Fastest (a Cheetah), Beshte the Strongest (a Hippo), and Ono the Keenest of Sight (an Egret) to join him in the honor of defending the Pride Lands and the Circle of Life. After Simba doubts his seriousness due to his choice of members, Kion wonders if he is even ready for the Lion Guard. It takes a message from Mufasa to nudge Kion in the right direction. Thanks to Mufasa, Kion starts to believe in himself and he finds that everything will work out. With his friends there to help, there is nothing they can’t do as long as they are together. Their first test comes when the hyenas attack the Pride Lands. When all five team members work together, the hyenas are chased off.

Honestly, The Lion Guard is a great movie for a whole new generation of Lion King fans. It has upbeat music, wonderful art and a great story to tell. It is certainly a great start for the Disney Junior TV series. I even found myself bouncing to some of the music. But I think what caught my attention the most were the nods to the original Lion King. There are several Easter Eggs throughout the film that, I think, are directed to the adults in the room. You will want a copy of The Lion King to watch after this movie, because your heart will be shouting, “We Must Watch The Lion King NOW!”

When The Lion Guard first begins, Simba is showing Kiara her whole Kingdom from the top of Pride Rock. Pause! We have totally seen this scene before. Rewind to The Lion King when Mufasa was sharing the same thing to Simba! Nostalgic moment anyone…

While the art for the Lion Guard has been lightened and drawn for a younger audience, we still see a similar scene as the torch is passed.

However, this is not the only nod to the original Lion King. We also get the amazing Mufasa coming from the clouds to give advice and the best part is it is voiced by the one and only James Earl Jones. I almost fell out of my chair and I had the whole room look at me as I exclaimed, “Oh my gosh that is the original voice…It is James Earl Jones!”

And James Earl Jones is not the only person to reprise his role as a famous character, Ernie Sabella comes back to voice the Mr. Pig known as Pumbaa! Complete with the stink and intelligence that only Pumbaa has.

The epic Easter Eggs and nods to the original Lion King don’t stop there. I suggest that you watch it with your little one(s) and catch them all for yourself! The Lion Guard may be a movie and show for the littler people in the room, but Disney Junior did not forget about the adults and I am so very glad they didn’t. Basically, it makes The Lion Guard a wonderful family movie for the young and the young at heart.

Become a Slugslinger with SKGaleana’s Card Game

As many of you may know, I created a Slugterra Card Game for my family so that we could become Slugslinging Masters. We fell in love with the game as we dueled fellow family and friends with some of our favorite Slugs from Slugterra. Since we were having such a great time, I decided to share the idea with my fellow readers. As it turns out, many of you loved the idea of a Slugterra Card Game. I immediately started getting emails wondering when the cards would become available and how the game might be played. In march of last year, fans got their wish when I finally posted the rule book, starter deck information and booster pack information (found here).

Over the last 11 months, I have received feedback, questions, and comments regarding game play, cards, rules, and more. I could not be more happy with what has been said! Everyone has loved the look of the cards, the game play and the little extras included. Kids have loved being able to grab their favorite slugs and add them to their arsenal. And I have enjoyed every minute of watching fellow Slugterra fans duel and become master Slugslingers.

Some of you have even taken the printable cards a step further and have had them printed professionally. For example, this last Christmas, I received a donation from Mike S. with the request for the Earth and Fire starter deck and several booster packs. Like I usually do, I sent the cards, thrilled that another Slugterra fan has become a slugslinger and possibly the next Unbeatable Master. What I didn’t expect were the awesome photos sent to me afterwards.

Mike made sure that he and his family would have a durable game to play for all the slugslingers in the house by:

laminating the Slugterra cavern board
getting the cards professionally printed by MakePlayingCards.com
making tokens & token boxes to hold counters/etc.
and by putting all the cards in protective sleeves

They turned out absolutely amazing!! I could not believe the amount of work that was placed into making such a professional deck of cards! Not only do the cards look great, but you can tell the family is absolutely enjoying game play. They even practice Slug Fu!

With the Booster Packs that Mike received, Mike and his family were also able to create their own arsenal and their own personal Deck. After all, the start of becoming a great Slugslinger is increasing your collection of slugs. Obviously Mike and his family are serious about becoming the next Shane Gang, if not better.

I want to thank Mike S. for these awesome photos and for sharing how he created such a durable and beautiful deck of cards. It is truly an honor to see the game loved and played!

The Fifth Element Valentine’s Day Cards

Perhaps the greatest love story of all time features an all perfect being and a taxi cab driver who’s life quite literally mimics that of s cliche country song. Despite their differences, their constant battle to save the universe, and the constant life threatening situations, Corban Dallas and Leeloo find a way to come together and light up the sky. How beautiful is that? I say, The Fifth Element is the perfect Valentine’s Day film for all those cute geeky couples that are looking to stay in, snuggle and munch on chocolate and popcorn. After all, Love is the reason why the universe is saved.
