Printables, Coloring Pages and Activities Featuring Disney’s Princess Pocahontas

“Pocahontas loves nature, and she spends her time exploring the land. After she falls in love with a man named John Smith, it’s up to her to discover her destiny and bring peace to her people” (Disney Princess Pocahontas)

I personally think that Pocahontas is a Disney Princess that doesn’t get much attention. Even the amount of printables for Pocahontas is small compared to other Disney Princesses like Cinderella or Belle from Beauty and the Beast. However, Pocahontas is still one of the bravest and strongest Disney Princesses, right up there with Mulan in my opinion. 😀

There are several lessons a viewer can take away from the Pocahontas film. A couple that stuck with me were to listen to the land and respect it. Pocahontas also taught me that the easy road is not always the right path. Pocahontas tries to teach these lessons to her people and to the newcomers. In one of my favorite songs, “Color of the Wind,” Pocahontas shares her knowledge to John Smith.

Cubeecraft of Achmed the Dead Terrorist With New Feature

I mentioned on my facebook page that I was working on something down right awesome, and if it all worked out I would share it this weekend. Well I am pleased to inform my readers that after a little math and a ton of determination, I got the new cubeecraft feature to work. 😀

What is the new feature?
I call it the “Cubee Follow Me Eyes.” With certain cubeecrafts, an extra piece can be inserted into the head. This piece will give the illusion of moving eyes. No matter where the viewer moves, the eyes will follow.

I first saw this illusion when I went through The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland. The eyes in the paintings followed me as I walked down the hall. I found it fascinating and I wanted to learn how the illusion worked. It actually didn’t take much time to learn. The web is filled with “how tos” on illusions and magic tricks. This one simply required that the eyes sit behind the painting so that they appeared to move as the viewer walked by. Creepy and effective.

It wasn’t until recently, however, that I thought of adding this feature to my cubeecrafts. I was watching Jeff Dunham and Achmed the dead Terrorist on TV. I realized that the eyes of Achmed moved quite often and I thought, “How cool would it be if I could get the cubeecrafts eyes to move as well.” Needless to say, after the show was done, I set out to make moving eyes. My past research on the Haunted Mansion Paintings became a big help as I created an insert for the cubeecraft head.

I am issuing a small warning: These are not simple to create. The eyes of the cubeecraft must be carefully cut out and the insert must be placed in at the right angle for this to work. Follow the instructions and please be very patient when creating the Cubee Follow Me Eyes. When all is done correctly the cubeecraft receives that extra creepy vibe (see image below).

Achmed the Dead Terrorist is the first cubeecraft to receive the Cubee Follow Me Eyes feature. He is available by clicking the image below. The instructions posted here will help in the creation of the Cubee Follow Me Eyes.

CUBEECRAFT:
Materials needed:
Printer
Card stock
scissors
x-acto knife

To make:
1. Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
2. Cut along the white on each tab using the x-acto knife
3. Cut along the two white lines on either side of the face, This is where the tabs for the hat will go through.
4. Cut along each red line using the x-acto knife
5. Cut out each eye hole where indicated.
6. Fold along each inner solid white line and slide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife to form a cube of the body, arms, and feet
7. Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the body.
8. Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the body (he should look like he is sitting)
The Head (see image for help)

9. Put together the head but leave the top up like a lid.
10. Fold the insert along the black line with the eyes facing out.
11. Place the insert in the head. The bottom of the insert should be up against the corner of the cubeecraft. The tab on the end of the insert needs to slide through the back tab of the head so that the insert stays in place.
12. Close the head.
13. Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.
He is now complete

Cubeecraft of Suki from Avatar the Last Airbender

Suki would be Sokka’s third love in the hit TV Series Avatar the Last Airbender. I say third love because food was/is his first love, followed by Yue who died and became the moon.

Suki is the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, an order of female warriors named after Avatar Kyoshi, who founded them to protect her homeland, Kyoshi Island. After she meets the Avatar, Katara and Sokka, Suki feels that her warriors could do more to fight against the fire nation. She begins helping those looking to escape the fire nation and find safety in the Earth Kingdom. She also took every opportunity to assist the Avatar in their fight against the fire nation and the Fire Lord.

When Appa is separated from his best friend, Aang, he goes through every problem imaginable. Suki finds Appa in need of help. She and her warriors clean him up and protect him. However, while defending Appa, she is captured by Azula and taken to a prison known as the Boiling Rock. She escapes when Sokka arrives at the Boiling Rock to rescue his father.

Suki is a major contender against the Fire Lord as she becomes a member of Team Avatar and assists in the final battle against the Fire Nation. Although she is not a bender, she is more than capable of defending herself against those who have bending abilities.

The cubeecraft below features Suki in her Kyoshi Warrior attire. The Kyoshi Warriors dressed in adorned metal headdresses and heavily armored green kimonos, and wore face paint while on duty. This uniform was designed to resemble the attire that Avatar Kyoshi wore during her life, as well as her face paint that was meant to intimidate opponents. The golden insignia represented the honor of a warrior’s heart, and the silk threads symbolized the brave blood that flowed through their veins. This Cubeecraft has two parts, and you will need both to complete it.
Part 1 consists of the head, arms, and fans
Part 2 is the dress and legs.

Materials needed:
Printer
Card stock
scissors
x-acto knife

To make:
1. Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
2. Cut along the white on each tab using the x-acto knife
3. Cut along each red line using the x-acto knife
4. Cut along the white line around the headpiece. Be careful! It must remain attached to the cubeecraft.
5. Fold along each inner solid black line and slide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife to form a cube of the head, arms, and feet
6. Fold along the base lines of the dress. Slide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife.
7. Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the dress.
8. Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the dress.
9. Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.
10. Slide the fans into Suki’s Hands (Optional)
She is now complete

Legends of OZ: Dorothy’s Return Free Printables, Activities and Downloads

“Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return” is a 3D-animated musical based on the adventure books by Roger Stanton Baum, the great-grandson of L. Frank Baum. A continuation of one of the world’s most popular and beloved fairy tales, “Legends of Oz” finds Dorothy (Lea Michele) waking to post-tornado Kansas, only to be whisked back to Oz again.

Dorothy’s only just returned home from her first incredible journey to Oz, but she’s already being called back for another adventure! After waking to post-tornado Kansas, Dorothy (Lea Michele) and Toto are whisked to Oz on a magical rainbow mover sent by their old friends the Scarecrow (Dan Aykroyd), the Lion (Jim Belushi) and the Tin Man (Kelsey Grammer). Time in Oz has passed much faster than back in Kansas, and Dorothy discovers that the Jester (Martin Short) – the devious brother of the Wicked Witch of the West – is taking Oz over one region at a time, holding their leaders captive and casting a pall of darkness over the beloved land. Even Glinda (Bernadette Peters) is unable to combat the Jester’s evil powers, making Dorothy their only hope.

When she arrives in Oz, Dorothy’s plan is to travel to the Emerald City to reunite with her old friends and join forces with them to stop the Jester. However, the yellow brick road isn’t quite as easy to follow this time around, especially with the Jester planting tricky detours to lead her astray, so she enlists the help of Wiser the owl (Oliver Platt), Marshal Mallow (Hugh Dancy), China Princess (Megan Hilty) and Tugg the tugboat (Patrick Stewart) to help find her way.

Dorothy is grateful for the support of her new friends, but when she realizes that having them by her side means putting them all in grave danger, she has to decide whether to continue to accept their assistance or forge the road alone. But with the future of Oz at stake, it’s going to take as much heart, brain and courage as they can collectively muster to defeat the Jester and return order and happiness to the Emerald City.

This 3D musical is set to release in theaters May 9th, 2014 and has voice overs by some major actors: Scarecrow (Dan Aykroyd), the Lion (Jim Belushi), the Tin Man (Kelsey Grammer), Glinda (Bernadette Peters), the Jester (Martin Short), Wiser the owl (Oliver Platt), Marshal Mallow (Hugh Dancy), China Princess (Megan Hilty) and Tugg the tugboat (Patrick Stewart).

Yes you read that right! Patrick Stewart will voice Tugg, a selfless tree who will sacrifice his very roots to help those in need. His wood allows him to be carved into whatever vessel is necessary to keep his friends safe and moving along on their journey. My Geek-o-meter lite up as I read the cast to this animated feature. Patrick Stewart is one of my all time favorite performers/actors and I love his voice. I will be watching this film just to see Patrick Stewart’s character. 😀

Cubeecraft of Jasmine From Disney’s Aladdin

Jasmine wants to live her own life and make decisions for herself, but as a princess her father makes most of them for her. At night she escapes the confounds of the castle to see what the world around her is like. During her exploration she becomes acquainted with a street rat known as Aladdin. Cut along the white on each tab using the x-acto knife and along the white above her bangs
Cut along each red line using the x-acto knife
Fold along each inner solid black line and slide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife to form a cube of the head, body, arms, and feet
Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the body.
Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the body.
Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.
Slide the collar into the tabs at the base of the head and slide the middle tab through the opening between the head and body

Free Rio 2 Printables, Activities and Game from UHU

Just like their release of Minion printables form Despicable Me 2 (found on my blog here), UHU has released Printables and a game for the new movie Rio 2.

The entire cast of the animated smash RIO returns in RIO 2, and they are joined by a new flock of top actors and musical talents. These UHU Rio 2 printables are easy to download print and create using scissors and the UHU glue stick. I am sure any glue stick will work but these are found on the UHU webpage and are meant to help advertise their products. 😀

Each of these printables will have the UHU advertisement located somewhere on the creation. The Mobile, for example, contains a large UHU sign at the top and the character shapes string down from there. However. the papercrafts of Blu and Gabi have less noticeable ad placements.

The mini posters are neat little crafts in themselves. Instead of printing out a poster and pinning it up on the wall, UHU gives it’s audience more of an interactive poster. To make this poster, we print out a backdrop and several characters shapes. We then glue the characters anywhere on the backdrop to form our own unique poster.

It really is a neat idea to allow the audience to create their own poster but I wanted the poster to have more than one interaction. So after I printed the Backdrop and Character shapes, I laminated the pieces. I then placed reusable sticky putty (which UHU does carry) on the character shapes. The character shapes can now be interchanged and moved around at will. This also works with magnets, but I found the putty to be cheaper.

Disney Easter Printables, Crafts, Egg Holders and More

Easter is April 20, 2014 and I have to admit I am far from ready. There are so many tasks to complete to make my house ready for the Easter Bunny and the very popular Easter Egg Hunt. At least I can get the whole family to pitch in and help dye the eggs. 😀

Like many, I am on a budget so I am always thankful for the Freebies Disney releases when it comes to Easter Printables. Their collection ranges from Egg Holders to Printable Easter Baskets to Activity Pages (which are a great help in passing the time as excitement builds for the visit from the Easter Bunny).

In honor of the release of the Pirate Fairy, Disney has given us two new printables to enjoy this Easter. Crocky joins us this year as an Egg holder and as a beautiful yet cute Easter Poster. I know I will have a few of the Crocky Egg Holders sitting around my house this Easter waiting to be found in the Easter Egg Hunt. Both the Crocky Egg Holder and the poster can be found below.

I will also be placing some of the Pirate Fairy Printables (coloring pages, bookmarks and mystical pixie dust lamp craft) into the Easter baskets with a box of crayons and a few of the needed items for the suggested craft. While I will have some candy in the baskets, I think the activities will be a bigger hit with the family and create fun Easter Memories.

With Crocky holding the eggs, A Crocky poster decorating the walls and adding The Pirate Fairy printables to the baskets, I think I can create a wonderful themed Easter Party.

Of course, Disney has more than Just Pirate Fairy Easter Printables. Below I have shared many of my favorite Disney Easter Printables. There were so many that popped up, I would have needed at least 10 blog posts to share them all.

In honor of the release I made a dash to the net to find some awesome Transformer Energon Printables. To my surprise I found very few printables, however, the ones I did find are pretty cool.
