The easiest people to buy for are usually the geeks in the family. As long as it’s in our fandom, you will hit a home run. Take me for instance. My family knows I love all things Star Wars (minus Jar Jar). They also know I don’t mind having duplicates because I like to have one to display and one to keep Mint in Box (MIB). Trust me, this is a trait most collectors have and we are often misrepresented as hoarders. However, during this time of year, no one thinks twice about watching our collections grow; I love this time of year.
This trait is not limited to Star Wars Fans. Doctor Who Fans (Whovians), Star Trek Fans (Trekkies), Gadget Geeks and other fandoms are all pretty simple to buy for. Of course, there is that occasional fan that has double of everything and sometimes triple of everything. Those geeks can be difficult to buy for if you are hoping to get them something new and unique. I have some tips that will help you through this Christmas Season with the “hard to buy for” geeks.
- Have them make a Christmas List.
- Have your geek make a wish list at ThinkGeek, Amazon, or their favorite shopping location.
- Make them something
Let’s face it, you can’t read minds. A list with a few details about the items they want will ensure they get the correct gadgets/toys. This is especially important with gadgets and their comparability with computers and other forms of technology. When in doubt, ask. Your geek will apperciate it.

This will ensure they get the correct gift because they have marked it as wanted. This will also prevent duplicate presents because the items will be marked as purchased.

Nothing will be more unique than a DIY gift made from the heart. A Geeky Quilt, shirt, dessert, or anything else you have in mind will be geektastic. For Geeky food ideas, look up your fandom’s cookbooks such as the Star Wars Cookbooks, Star Trek Cookbooks, the Doctor Who Cookbook, or the Geek Cookbook, which contains recipes from Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones and more.
I have also included a list below of many of the geeky toys on the top of the Geek list. Perhaps the list will help you with ideas or provide the exact item you need. 😀
