DIY Cardboard Trucks Inspired by PAW Patrol Rescue Wheels!

With PAW Patrol Rescue Wheels out on DVD just in time for the holidays, Nickelodeon has released a craft the whole family can have fun with. These DIY Cardboard Trucks make perfect places to store toys or wrap fun gifts like a gift bag! They only take a few supplies and a little family time to create! Follow the instructions below to start the Rescue Wheels adventures!

To make the Cardboard Trucks you will need:

  • 1 Large Cardboard box
  • Paint or Construction paper in your favorite color
  • White paint or construction paper
  • Black Paint or construction paper
  • Glue or glue gun
  • Paper plates or black construction paper
  • Twine, string, or ribbon,
  • Scissors
  • paint brush (Optional)
  • Large black Marker (Optional)

To Make:

  1. Grab a Medium to Large Cardboard box. I know I may get in trouble for saying this but a Medium USPS flat rate box is a fun one to use. It is long and thin.
  2. If you went went with paint, pain the outside of the box in the color you chose. If you chose construction paper, cover the entire box in construction paper using a glue stick.
Your box should be one solid color now.
  3. To make the wheels, take the paper plates and paint them black, or take sheets of costruction paper and cutout large round circles, about 7 inches in diameter. Like most vehicles, you will need 4 wheels. Feel free to take some white paint and make rims or other details found on a trucks tires. Get creative.
  4. Take the short flap that is at the top of the box and paint it white. This will be the windshield
  5. Take the two long flaps next to the windshield, and bend the corners inward to create an angle. Glue the folded corners to the back of the windshield flap. Use a hot glue gun for best results. Use white to make side windows next to the windshield.
  6. Using black paint, a big black marker, or black construction paper, add smaller details to the Truck. Maybe add a ladder, radiator, outlines, doors, and more. Use that imagination.
  7. Glue the wheels to the side of the box near the bottom. If you want to take this craft a step further, use thick cardboard to make the wheels. Then use a grummet to attack the wheels to the box. This will allow the wheels to spin.
  8. Poke holes in each corner at the top
  9. Put a piece of string or twine from front to back and tie on each side.
  10. Print some paw patrol logos and glue them to the truck.

The DIY Cardboard Truck is now done! Enjoy the new creation!
