Halloween Throwback Printable Coloring Pages from Nickelodeon!

Nickelodeon is giving a nod to the oldie but goodie shows of yesteryear, in their printable activity pack featuring five printable coloring pages! Each page is themed for Halloween, providing a nostalgic moment to a time when we adults were kids, watching our shows, and eating the candy we worked hard to earn by Trick-or-Treating. Their nod worked, and I find myself smiling at each page and the memories of such a fantastic Nickelodeon era.

Nickelodeon parents state, ‘Celebrate this scare-tactular season with some familiar faces.” (Nick Parents). While these faces are very familiar to the adults in the room, the kids may or may not know who each of the characters are. However, I think Nickelodeon’s goal is to give the parents a Halloween hug.

The first page is a coloring page of SpongeBob Squarepants as a ghost. Because SpongeBob has remained in popularity since its inception 25 years ago, I am sure most kids will recognize this crazy square character that lives in a pineapple under the sea. Of course, those who remember the first episode will have a ping of happiness this Halloween. Although, there isn’t much to color on this page unless we make his ghost costume colorful.

The second page features Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda! I have been a fan of the Fairly OddParents since I was a kid. I can sing the title song word for word. Probably not a talent I should flex, but there it is. I have noticed that this cartoon has regained popularity and kids have been able to call out the Fairy characters, so this page, while nostalgic, is also one that the family can enjoy.

The third page is classic Tommy in a Reptar costume from the TV series, Rugrats. With the creators being Doctor Who nerds, we get a character that uses a screwdriver to escape confinement and go on crazy adventures. His companions, Phil Lil, and Chucky, join him , sometimes reluctantly, in order to explore the world. Nickelodeon did release a remake of the series, so kids should know who Tommy is.

The fourth page is my favorite page of the set! It’s one that I find the most nostalgic. Holding a pumpkin and flying through the air, we have Danny Phantom. <3 After an accident, Danny gains powers and can become a ghost-human hybrid. With his powers, he can turn invisible, travel through walls, fly, and much more, Danny uses his superpowers to save his family, friends, and the town. This cartoon never gets the love is deserves and I really wish it had way more than three seasons. Great job Nickelodeon, nostalgic moment achieved.

However, when it comes to recognition by the kids in the family, Danny Phantom may be one that they don’t know. I have not seen a reboot or an increase in popularity. So this coloring page is meant for us adults while the kids color the others.

The fifth page is probably the most iconic of the bunch. This series is what I attribute to the classic Nickelodeon feel, Say hello to Doug. A series that features a kid making his way through school, crushes, and life using his imagination with the help of his dog, Doug was a wonderful cartoon. I know I still sing the theme song, “do do do do do do do do do do do”. And if you sang that, you know you were/are a fan.

Kids may bot even have an idea of who this is, so parents can take the opportunity to share their love of early cartoons and watch a few episodes on YouTube or other streaming apps.
