It’s all about Piper and Lava in the New Pixar Collection

Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 3 has been released on DVD, blu-Ray and Digitally this week. It contains thirteen short films including “Piper”, which was the Best Animated Oscar Winner from 2016. This collection also includes some of my favorite animated short films that have been released over the last few years, such as Lou and Lava.

I received a copy of Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 3 and thought I would share my thoughts on the set.

First off, this collection is far more upbeat than Pixar Short Films Volume 2. Death and hexes are almost non-existent, which makes this collection a bit more child friendly. With Partysaurus Rex, Riley’s First Date, The Legend of Mor’Du, Lava, The Radiator Springs 500 1/2, Lou, and of course Piper, these beautiful fun shorts will capture the imagination of all who watch them. Of course, Piper and Lava are the true reasons to own this collection. I love these two shorts and I am very glad we can now own them.

What’s is awesome about this collection of Pixar Films is the special bonuses. There is interesting commentary on each of these shorts where the creators and animators explain their reasoning for making these stories and what it took to turn them into a masterpiece. While this part usually ends up boring the kids in the audience, us adults are free to watch these when we have time.

Other than the fun shorts, there is also two mini movies included in this collection: “Marine Life Interviews” and “Miss Fritter’s Racing Skoool.” These are also fun to watch and feature characters from two well know Disney/Pixar movies, “FInding Dory” and “Cars 3.’

I am extremely happy with this collection and the more upbeat attitude it presents. As always, be sure to watch the shorts before you sit your kids down to view them, a couple of these may be a little much for them to understand. However, with Lava and Piper included, this collection can’t go wrong.
