From the mind of George Lucas that brought the whole world Star Wars, the genius who created Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, comes a new animated features that is both strange and magical. Ohhh, so that’s why it is called “Strange Magic“…Light Bulb.
So what could possibly be so strange about this magic? Throw in a despicable character and a love potion and the magic becomes very strange indeed.
It turns out that a two-timing fairy named Roland, happens to be dating the Kings daughter Marianne, when he is caught with another fairy. After being discovered, Roland realizes he has lost the throne and will no longer become king. In an effort to save what he has lost, Roland plans to use a love potion on Marianne. With her once again infatuated and willing to marry him, Roland would be able to get the crown and still have his fabulous hair. Or was it he has fabulous hair and will get the crown. I suppose to Marianne, Roland “loves the crown and his hair, and not in that order.” Roland sounds like the standard pompous, egotistical guy you never want around. However, the king finds Roland perfect for the kingdom because he doesn’t know what type of scum-fairy Roland is. All I can say, is thank goodness Marianne has her sister to help her get through this strange mess.
Featuring several musicals and wonderful themes regarding ‘true love will triumph over all’ and ‘amazing things are worth fighting for,’ Strange Magic is a toe-tapping strange movie.
