On May 25, at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, fans and judges gathered to hear which Anime series would take the Best Anime of the Year award. Some of the most notable Anime series that could take number one were Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Kaiju No. 8, Dan Da Dan, Delicious in Dungeon, The Apothecary Diaries, and Solo Leveling. After the judges made their decision and all the votes were tallied, I am happy to say, Solo Leveling took the win!
Watch the Crunchyroll Award Awards on YouTube here:
Solo Leveling follows Sung Jinwoo, an E-rank hunter, that keeps getting injured and/or almost killed at every dungeon battle. He continues fighting because he wants to make sure that his sister can go to school and that his mom’s hospital bills are paid for. However, when Sung Jinwoo faces a double dungeon, everything changes. After almost losing his life, Sung Jinwoo reawakens with the rare OP ability to level up his rank. He takes this ability and begins his quest of increasing his powers so that he can find the ultimate elixir to save his mom.
Combining family love, powerful fights, fantastic voice overs, and one of the best scores I have ever heard in an Anime, Solo Leveling caught the attention of Anime fans all over the world earning its ‘Anime of the Year’ title.
Of course, Solo Leveling took more than just Anime of the year. Its other wins, which can be found on the official Crunchyroll site, include:
- Best New Anime Series
- Best Action Anime
- Best Main Character – Sung Jinwoo
- Best Anime Score
- Best Anime Ending Sequence – request by krage
- Best Anime Voice Artist Performance – Brazilian Portuguese – Charles Emmanuel as Sung Jinwoo
- Best Anime Voice Artist Performance – Castilian Spanish – Masumi Mutsuda as Sung Jinwoo
- Best Anime Voice Artist Performance – English – Aleks Le as Sung Jinwoo (Wakey Wakey)
Way to go Solo Leveling and all of those involved! You all deserve this win! Now…Will we get a season 3?

To celebrate Solo Leveling taking Anime of the Year, I have created a Sung Jinwoo Cubeecraft Papercraft. Simply click the image below and save it to your computer. Then print and create by using the instructions below. This Cuneecraft has a lot of black so I used his blue glow to make the edges and fold lines seeable.
To Build the Cubeecraft you will need:
Printer
Card stock
scissors
x-acto knife
To make:
- Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
- Cut along the white on each tab using the x-acto knife including in either side of the face
- Cut along each bright lue lines of the coat using the x-acto knife
- Fold along each inner solid black/blue line and slide each tab into the slots you createdto form a cube of the head, body, arms, and feet
- Slide the arms through the blue slots on either side of the body.
- Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the body.
- Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.
Sung Jinwoo is done. Click below to grab the template and create your own master of the Shadowborn
