Printables – Young Jedi Adventures Printable Party Kit and Activity Book!

Disney has produced a brand new cartoon set 200 years before “The Phantom Menace,” during the High Republic era, called Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventure. The show plays on Disney Junior as well as on Disney+. This new cartoon follows the story of Kai, Lys, Nubs, Nash, and RJ-83 as they learn the ways of the Force, help their friends and other creatures, explore the galaxy, and learn skills needed to be a Jedi.

We don’t see where these children come from or how they came to be with the Jedi, but we do see how far they have advanced during their time with the Jed. One of the first scenes the audience sees is a training scenario with Kai, Lys, and Nubs as they work to dispatch the droids as a team.

Their training also features life lessons that the preschooler audience can learn from, such as teamwork, caring for others, and helping those in need. Each episode has a different life lesson to learn. The episodes are:

  • “The Young Jedi / Yoda’s Mission”
  • “Nash’s Race Day / The Lost Jedi Ship”
  • “Get Well Nubs / The Junk Giant”
  • “Lys and the Snowy Mountain Rescue / Attack of the Training Droids”
  • “The Jellyfruit Pursuit / Creature Safari”
  • “Squadron / Forest Defenders”
  • “The Jedi and the Thief / The Missing Kibbin”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Review and Ooze Drink Recipe

Get ready for the ride of your life with the new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania movie, coming to DVD, (Grab it here {affiliate link}) Blu-Ray, and 4K May 6, 2023! Super Heroes Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible. Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O’Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.

I got a chance o review the movie and here is what I thought.

SPOILER BELOW

Simply put, Disney/Marvel has released a solid film! After reading some of the critic comments and seeing the low score that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was given, I was a little nervous that we would have a flop on our hands. But this movie makes a big impact in the tiniest of ways! Sometimes critics get it wrong, and I think this is one of those cases. We have a great dynamic duo, fantastic graphics, and superb villains!

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly perform their parts with finesse and manage to come across on screen as the perfect Ant-Man and the Wasp duo. While we can give the dialog and settings to the writers, the interaction is flawless. They embody their alter egos and make the characters come alive. They nail their comedy scene, depict fear when needed, and show awe and wonder when some of the coolest things happen. This isn’t an easy task. The audience may see the amazing quantum realm, but I do believe, all they may see is a beautifully displayed…green screen.

Of course, the green screen is a fantastic tool that allows us to see how Ant-Man and the Wasp travel to the quntum realm and what the quantum realm looks like. The colors, the movement, and the objects are stunning. They capture the imaginations of all those who are watching. I loved many of the scenes and the time that was spent on background movement. Every tiny detail seemed to be placed with purpose, which made me feel like I was actually there standing with the heroes. That also means that the camera movants and cinematography were perfect for each scenario. Whether it is circling a large Ant-man or close ups in intimate scenes, we are taken on a wonderful vibrant ride, immersed in the story of our heroes.

But every hero needs a villain and the creators of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania did not diapoint. Kang is a great villain and Jonathan Majors does a fantastic job as this character! I don’t think they could have casted Kang any better! Kang is an evil murderous villain that doesn’t stop for anything. He has no remorse, no cares, and seeks to destory. He is the next big villain that certainly sends chilld down my spine. I think what makes him feel so real is the fact that Jonathan Majors nails every line and literally becomes the evil that we see. It is no joke that his acting skills are on a whole other level. He brought an insane evil into this world.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a fantastic movie with comedy, action, and suspense, We even get a crazy evil villain that is going to rock the Marvel universe. I loved everything about this movie and give it 5 stars!

Animal Crackers Movie Review and Digital Code Giveaway!

Now available digitally is a brand new magical comedy from Lionsgate called Animal Crackers. The star-studded cast includes John Krasinski (TV’s “The Office”), Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place franchise), Danny DeVito (Batman Returns), Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings franchise), and Sylvester Stallone (Rocky franchise).

When Owen (John Krasinski) and his family inherit his uncle Bob’s rundown circus, it seems more like a curse than a gift. But it becomes an entryway to magical adventure when Owen is presented with a mysterious box of animal crackers — with the power to transform the bearer into any animal in the box! It looks like the circus will be a success, until Bob’s villainous brother (Sir Ian McKellen) learns about the box…and he will stop at nothing to get it!

I received the chance to review the movie and here is what I thought.

SPOILERS BELOW

One sentence that best describes this movie is: It is a film of stereotypical characters, cliché story lines, and sexualized comedy that ends with a predictive climax. This doesn’t mean that it is a horrible movie, in fact, many parts of it are fun to watch and the magical part of the story is cute. I mean who doesn’t want to magically transform into an animal? I do want to state, however, that while the storyline seems perfect for a young audience, what with animal crackers transforming people into animals, the actual adaptation is more for 8-10 year olds. There are comedic scenes of boobs, butts, and even scenes with unwelcomed kisses and advances. Many of these will come across as hilarious, while some will be cringe worthy.

The first few minutes of the movie features the Huntington brothers circus with fun music, acrobats, clowns, and more. Horatio is an egotistical stereotypical brother and Bob is the stereotypical meek brother. The pair seem to work well together and bring in a substantial audience. When Talia, the love interest, is introduced, Horatio desires her because she is beautiful. However, Talia falls in love with Bob, much to Horatio’s dismay. This, of course, places a strain on the brothers relationship causing Horatio to give his brother the ultimatum, either she goes or I go. Bob chooses Talia, kicking his brother out of the circus.

After Talia and Bob are married, Esmerelda, the gypsy and aunt of Talia, pulls a box out from between her boobs and gives it to the married couple. It is a box filled with animal crackers, which, when eaten, the person becomes the animal they ate. It causes the circus to soar in success for 30 years. People love watching animals do tricks, walk the rope, and much more. Even Bob’s nephew, Owen, loves the circus, meats a girl named Zoe, and eventually marries her, continuing the family pattern.

This brings us to present day. Bob and Talia are gone after a fire, Horatio is trying to get his hands on the animal crackers, and Bob leaves Owen the circus in his will. I think we can all see where this is going at this point. Zoe works to recreate the circus, Owen finds his love for the circus once again, Horatio succeeds in stealing the animal crackers and then fails horribly, and we learn about a strange twist that really wasn’t a twist if you give the movie at least 10% of your attention.

I did enjoy the mostly happy ending with the circus becoming a magical place for more than just the performers. I do wish Raven Symone’s character, Binkley, would have solved the transforming problem for Talia and Bob. Binkley was featured enough that, I think, her magical breakthrough would have brought the story to a perfect close with everyone on stage celebrating life and fun. I also really enjoyed the digital art. It was colorful and fun with fine details for hair, smoke transformations, and more. Even the clothes showcase textures, shadows, and reflections. Color me impressed.

I do think the story and comedy needs some work. I don’t think the art of the movie matches the age group that this film is geared towards. By looking at the digital art, one would think 6 years of age would be fine, but I would say the comedy is geared towards more of the 8-10 year old range. On Common Sense Media, parents believe it is more for 10+. With the dissociation between art, story, and comedy, I give the movie 3 out of 5 stars.

While this is my opinion of the film, yours may be different. I have seen some positive reviews where they find the story fun, whimsical, and a great family movie. If you want a copy for your digital collection, we are hosting a giveaway for a Digital Code of Animal Crackers. Use the form below to tweet, comment, and follow to enter the giveaway. Blue’s Big City Adventure Review and DVD Giveaway!

Get ready for an all new movie called Blue’s Big City Adventure staring everyone’s favorite pup Blue, our friend Josh, and many of their pals in Storybook World. Josh and Blue’s adventure takes them to the Big Apple where they sing and dance to all new songs, explore New York City, and make new friends. Blue’s Big City Adventure will be available on DVD from Paramount Home Entertainment and Nickelodeon Home Entertainment on March 28, 2023, for the suggested retail price of $10.99.

I got the opportunity to review the DVD and here is what I thought.
WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW!

My family and I were very excited to review Blue’s Big City Adventure because we knew that Steve was returning to the Blue’s Clues series. I grew up with Steve and couldn’t wait to witness his short return for all the nostalgic feels. It did not disappoint! To help Josh and Blue, Steve goes on his own adventure to find his friends and get them to the theater.

Of course, Blue’s Big City Adventure isn’t all about Steve. It is about an adventure through New York City and relying on friends to help.

When Josh gets accepted to have an audition, he heads to New York City with Blue. After several fun adventures in the city, they sit to enjoy a snack. This is where Josh realizes that he has forgotten his Handy-Dandy Notebook with the instructions to Rainbow Puppy’s auditions at the Broadway theater. However, with the help of Blue and her clues, Josh has hope that they will find where they need to go.

Meanwhile, Mr. Salt, Slippery and Tickety Tock arrive in New York City to help find Josh and Blue and get them to the theater n time. First they must seek help from our friend Steve, who recognizes us and gives us an amazing hello. (So Happy!) With the help from Steve and Joe, Mr. Salt, Slippery and Tickety Tock go on their own adventure to find Josh and Blue.

In the Park, Josh and Blue are learning to find their music when Joe, Steve and friends find them. It becomes a fantastic choreographed song that the audience will love. I know my family enjoyed it! In fact, there are several songs that get the audience dancing with Josh and Blue. This musical is a toe tapping sing-along film kids are going to want to watch over and over again.

The songs in the movie are:

  • Brand New Day
  • Mailtime
  • We Just Got a Letter
  • Blue Skidoo
  • On Our Way
  • We Are Gonna Play Blue’s Clues
  • Play Blue’s Clues
  • Planets Song
  • That’s My Song
  • We Just Figured Out Blue’s Clues
  • Rock Blue’s Clues & You!
  • Happy Puppy Dance

That is a lot of songs and makes the movie fun to watch. Even adults will find their feet dancing. Each song connects with the audience about specific events and clues. We have the standard loveable songs such as We Just Figured Out Blue’s Blues and Mailtime with new songs about traveling, finding our song, and learning that we can do anything if we put our minds to it. The new songs are fantastic lessons for all those in the audience.

I absolutely love the film. Watching Steve come back to help certainly pulled me into the movie and the music was everything we have come to expect from such an iconic series. I give it five stars!

The Perfect Dice Storage Case for the RPG Enthusiast

As an RPGer, I have been carrying around a bag of dice filled with my hoard. When I had 1-5 sets, this wasn’t a problem because they were easily separated before play.. However, now with several sets and some special metal dice, it has become cumbersome. Not only has it become a rather large bag, the separation of dice takes a lot longer. And let’s face it, keeping my favorite dice with bad dice that should be in a time out, can have negative effects on my play. No one wants to constantly roll a nat1 because the bad dice contaminated the good ;). Thus my search for the perfect dice case begun.

My first thought was to get a wooden box that has each set laid out in a line perfectly set for future use, however, I have large dice, halfling dice, metal dice, and more. A container that fits a “standard” size and set just wouldn’t work for my needs. Many of the reviews agreed with my assessments and I moved on to find something a bit more useful.

I was on the verge of giving up my search when a box caught my eye on Amazon.com (affiliate link) featuring several pockets for dice, a place to hold cards, and even a pocket for other things an RPGer may need. Hopeful, I clicked the link and began reading the details of the SIQUK Dice Storage Case. I found that it features:

  • enough pockets to hold up to 30 sets of standard RPG dice
  • it is very durable
  • can change into a dice tray
  • holds cards, pens, and other needed items
  • Has a 4.8 out of 5 stars
  • Very reasonable price

Because of the reviews, I took a chance and purchased the box, in purple, of course. Here is my review!

In one quick sentence…I LOVE IT! If that is all you need to know, then I suggest you go buy this SIQUK Dice Storage Case and enjoy the organization it provides. If you are looking for more details on why I love it, keep reading.

The most important note about this case, is that it comes in purple. When something comes in purple it can’t be all bad. The box has four color options: purple, blue, green, and red, but we all know purple was and is my choice. While it is just the zipper area, it is a fantastic highlight and adds a bit of color.

The rest of the case is made of black 1680D Oxford cloth over a hard EVA material, which is stress-cracked and UV radiation resistant. That means it is a sturdy box. I dropped my box, while crossing my fingers, just to see if it was sturdy. Honestly, due to my clumsiness, I knew I would be dropping it several times, so I figured a test run would be important. Nothing broke. It collected some dust on the fabric but everything remained right as rain. I will know more about the sturdiness as my clumsiness rears its ugly head, but so far, this box is promising!

As a side note: the dice also remained inside their compartments.

Inside the box are two trays made from the same material. Each tray has 15 compartments to hold my hoard of dice. As you can see in the picture above, each compartment can hold an entire set of 7 dice with some space to spare. For those that may not know, a set of 7 consists of a D20, a D12, two D10s, a D8, a D6, and a D4. Shockingly, the compartments also hold my slightly oversize set of inclusion dice. The white ones contain a polar bear inside. They are so adorable!

Each compartment also holds my oversized metal D20s that I received from some awesome Mystery Loot Bags. Because of the small amount of extra space, the container also holds my mini figure pin, which came with a metal dice in the Monster loot bag.

The Monster Loot Bag also came with a card that contains information about the monster and a great way to include the monster in the game. This card fits perfectly in the area that holds RPG cards such as spell cards or monster cards. There are four pockets to hold cards and I know I will be putting my Paladin spell cards here . The case also includes a mesh pocket where pencils and character sheets can be stored. This box has become an all-in-one container to carry everything I need to take to my next DND game!

At my next game, I am excited to try the dice tray conversion. By removing the compartments, the bottom of the box becomes a dice tray. Thanks to the dice compartments being made of durable material, they come out without a fuss. And because the box is made of the EVA material,. this dice tray is perfect for my metal dice that may otherwise damage a table, especially if it is glass.

Because of the durability, all the dice compartments, the awesome place to store cards and character sheets, and the dice tray conversion, I love this SIQUK Dice Storage Case. I also love that this case aids in the punishment of bad dice by separating them from the group so that the lucky dice don’t get contaminated hahaha. I am so glad I made this purchase. If you want to get one, go to Amazon.com. At the time I am posting this, they are on sale!

If I had one complaint, it is that eventually I will outgrow it and need a bigger box. Of course, I can just buy another one of these and end up with a hoard worthy to call myself a Dice Dragon. Right now, I can only call myself a Dice Goblin, but the goal is real.
