Story
“THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, from a screenplay by Simon Beaufoy and Michael DeBruyn, and produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE opens on November 22, 2013. Lionsgate presents a Color Force/Lionsgate production.” (Hunger Games Catching Fire)

Not because you forgot what has happened but because it is worth another watch. This cubeecraft also features his Sonic Screwdriver. I have included an easy cut out where you cut around the square, fold in half and done. Or the more difficult where you cut the actual shape out and fold in half. Either way, You slide it in his paw and he is ready for business or to rescue the Ponds (possibly visa versa LOL)

Materials needed:
Printer
Card stock
scissors
x-acto knife

To make:

  1. Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
  2. Cut along the white on each tab using the x-acto knife
  3. Cut along each red line using the x-acto knife
  4. Cut along the two white lines on the front using an x-acto knife.
  5. Fold along each inner solid black line and slide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife to form a cube of the head, arms, body and feet
  6. Slide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife.
  7. Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the body.
  8. Slide the feet through the white slots on the front of the body.
  9. Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.

Walking With Dinosaurs Free Printables, Activities and Downloads

Become a part of the Dinosaur world in the up coming movie Walking With Dinosaurs.
“For the first time in movie history, audiences will truly see and feel what it was like when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. WALKING WITH DINOSAURS is the ultimate immersive, big screen adventure for families. Meet dinosaurs more real than you’ve ever seen as you take off on a thrilling prehistoric adventure, where Patchi, an underdog dinosaur, triumphs against all odds to become a hero for the ages.”

I have to admit that I am excited to see this film. I heard that they did some filming in Alaska and that is my home state 😀
Also Justin Long lends his voice to Patchi the Dinosaur, which sort of makes this epic since he is one of my favorite actors.

This is sure to be a big hit with the kids and probably an interesting story for us adults who love Dinosaurs.

These Walking with Dinosaur Printables are fun for all ages and free to print and use, and they are a great way to add dinosaurs to your digital hoard. 😀

Cubeecraft of Anna from Disney’s Animated Movie Frozen

My favorite character to work on from Disney’s Animated film Frozen was Anna. All the details in her dress I really wanted to get right. She also has, upon further inspection, a white strip of hair that I had to be place in the cubeecraft as well. It took a while but I believe I am very happy with the way she turned out.

I am also loving her character. From what I can see from the trailers, she is very strong, happy, and kind. The official movie page calls her “Optimistic and caring”, so I am not too far off 🙂

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) is more daring than graceful and, at times, can act before she thinks. But she’s also the most optimistic and caring person you’ll ever meet. She longs to reconnect with her sister, Elsa, as they were close during their childhood. When Elsa accidentally unleashes a magical secret that locks the kingdom of Arendelle in an eternal winter, Anna embarks on a dangerous adventure to make things right. Armed with only her fearlessness, a never-give-up attitude and her faith in others, Anna is determined to save both her kingdom and her family.” (Frozen)
This Cubeecraft has two parts, and you will need both to complete it.
Materials needed:
Printer
Card stock
scissors
x-acto knife
To make:
  1. Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
  2. Cut along the white on each tab using the x-acto knife
  3. Cut along each red line using the x-acto knife
  4. Cut along the two white lines on either side of the face using an x-acto knife.
  5. Fold along each inner solid black line and lide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife to form a cube of the head, arms, and feet
  6. Fold along the base lines of the dress. Slide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife.
  7. Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the dress.
  8. Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the dress.
  9. Slide the no completed body through the red lots of the head.
  10. Fold the tabs of the hair and slid them through the white slots on either side of the head.
Who is Thor?
As the Norse God of thunder and lightning, Thor wields one of the greatest weapons ever made, the enchanted hammer Mjolnir. While others have described Thor as an over-muscled, oafish imbecile, he’s quite smart and compassionate. He’s self-assured, and he would never, ever stop fighting for a worthwhile cause.” (marvelkids)
Cubeecraft of Olaf From Disney’s 53 Animated Film ‘Frozen’
From the moment I heard about Disney’s new movie Frozen, I was extremely excited. This film is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen. Of course Disney will take several liberties, making it their own story, but from what I have seen in their ads and trailers, it is sure to be a great film.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Story Summery:
“Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” presents “Frozen,” a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

Olaf looks to be the Plucky Comic relief. A happy go Lucky little guy that gets created in a winter wonderland. According the the Character Summery on the Frozen official website he likes Warm Hugs, which may be a problem for such a cold frozen guy.

Character Summery:
He’s Olaf (voice of Josh Gad) and he likes warm hugs. Sprung from Elsa’s magical powers, Olaf is by far the friendliest snowman to walk the mountains above Arendelle. His innocence, outgoing personality and uncanny ability to disassemble himself at good and not-so-good times lead to some awkward, albeit laughable moments. He may also have the world’s most impossible dream, but what he doesn’t know won’t melt him—or will it? (Frozen)

After seeing the trailer of Olaf, I had to make him into a cubeecraft. Now turning a round snowman into a square is weird and strange but I think I succeeded.

His hair needs to be cut very carefully and then slid into the slot on the top of his head. The arms, unlike cubeecraft arms are the twigs/sticks. Cut along the red lines on either side of the cubeecraft and slide the arms in. Be sure that the arms and the hair stay connected at their tips so that they can fold in half and become double sided.

To Build the Cubeecraft:
Materials needed:
Printer
Card stock
scissors
x-acto knife

To make:

  1. Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
  2. Cut along the white on each tab using the x-acto knife including in either side of the face
  3. Cut along each red line using the x-acto knife
  4. Fold along each inner solid black line and slide each tab into the slots you created with an x-acto knife to form a cube of the head, body, arms, and feet
  5. Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the body.
  6. Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the body.
  7. Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.

He is done. To download this cubeecraft click the links below and save them to your computer. Then print and create!

Free How to Train Your Dragon Printables, Downloads, and Crafts

HTTYD Free Printables and downloads SKGaleana
Of all the Dragons featured on Dreamworks How to Train your Dragon, I have to say toothless is my favorite. He acts just like my puppy. 😀

My favorite scenes are when Hiccup and toothless began to learn their connection to each other and when they take their first major flight. So wonderful.
I will admit, I wish that I can take a flight on a dragon. 🙂
Don’t worry I am still grounded in reality LOL but a geek can dream :).

The next best thing to having my own toothless was having a paper craft of toothless sitting on my desk. That started the search for free printables.

Until now I have kept these printables all to myself, but recently there have been advertisements for “How to Train Your Dragon 2” and I have had several requests to post a blog of free printables. Of course I can’t say no to that. 😀

For those who don’t know the story of How to Train Your Dragon here is a little Movie Synopsis:
From the studio that brought you “Shrek,” “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda” comes “How to Train Your Dragon”—an adventure comedy set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild fire-breathing dragons, based on the book by Cressida Cowell. The story centers around a Viking teenager named Hiccup (JAY BARUCHEL), who lives on the Island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen’s rather progressive views and offbeat sense of humor don’t sit too well with his tribe or its chief…who just happens to be Hiccup’s father, Stoick the Vast (GERARD BUTLER). When Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens—Astrid (AMERICA FERRERA), Snotlout (JONAH HILL), Fishlegs (CHRISTOPHER MINTZ-PLASSE), and twins Ruffnut (KRISTEN WIIG) and Tuffnut (T.J. MILLER)—he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup’s one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe. (school of dragons)
