I received a copyy to conduct a review and here is what I thought.
For those looking for an iconic book/calendar that will capture the eye of every vault dweller in your home, than look no further. The hardcover depicts Vault Boy with a Christmas hat and a thumbs up in classic Fallout colors. The inside of the book/calendar holds 25 envelopes, each one numbered for the 25 days of Advent The packets feature graphic art inspired by the Fallout series with the Vault Dweller Nuka Cola, and other Christmassy images.
The goal is to open each packet without succumbing to the dangers of the world. The trick is, we can only open the numbered envelope on the corresponding day. That means, our game must last 25 days in the most epic of Christmas countdowns.
I absolutely love the graphic art and design. It nails the cola on the head with it’s state of the art Vault-Tech design. At least with this calendar, we don’t have to leave our vault in search of surprises. all we have to do is open a small envelope and reap the rewards.
In order to get a good idea of what this Advent Calendar contains, I figured I would open 5 random envelopes and see what is inside. To get random numbers I asked a family member to give me five numbers between 1 and 25. She selected 5, 8, 14, 17, and 21.
Envelope 5 contains a Sunset Sarsaparilla: Made with oure cane sugar bookmark or mini poster. It is on a high quality glossy paper. It will work great as a classic sign to display in your vault’s living area or use in your favorite book.
Envelope 8 contains two Christmas Tags with To and From featuring the logo for Nuka Cola. During an apocalypse, it is still a good idea to mention who a gift belongs to. These tags will help with the ambiguity that comes from blank presents.
Envelope 14 contains a thick cardstock drink coaster featuring a red Vitruvian man. This will help that cup of coffee connect with everything while you dwell in your vault.
Envelope 17 contains a Fallout Your Special Mini Book. It is an adorable book that shares what each letter in the word special means. For example, “E is for Endurance, and that’s how long I can play! I’m always really healthy, and have energy all day!”
Envelope 21 contains a Fallout Pencil decorated with nuclear explosions and Vault Boy, the corporate mascot of the Vault-Tec Corporation. This pencil will come in handy when it is time to take notes or make a list of what you need to get when you leave your vault.
All five of these items are fun to open and fun to have. My favorite one of the bunch has to be the SPECIAL Mini Book. It is on high gloss paper and can come out year after year for the holiday season or sit perfectly on a bookshelf to add that wonderful vault feel.
I did look at all the other items included in the Fallout: The Official Vault Dweller’s Advent Calendar because…well…I wanted to see everything inside. Let me just say, it is so much fun! Several of the envelopes feture recipe cards, Vault-tec ad cards, stickers, and more! For those that wish to know what is inside each envelope, I have included a slideshow below.
WARNING: The slide shopw will show every single envelop and what is inside. This will destroy the surprise. So if you wish for each gift to remain a mystery do not switch through the slideshow.
I think these items are wonderfully done and that they are gonna be epic keepsakes for any Fallout fan. Many of the paper goods are printed on high-quality glossy paper and are made to last if taken care of properly. Some of the items are one hit wonders. The pencil will eventually be unusable, the gift tags are used once to give to your Fallout friends, and the stickers need to find a perfect permeant home. Each of these items will leave a lasting geek impression which makes me give this Advent Calendar five stars.
