Storybook Fun with Blaze & The Monster Machines!

It’s time to rev up your summer activities! In celebration of the DVD release of Blaze and The Monster Machines: Race for the Golden Treasure, we’re excited to share this super fun storybook activity pack featuring Blaze, AJ, and all their friends.

Are You Afraid of The Dark? DVD Giveaway

Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story the “Are You Afraid Of The Dark DVD Giveaway.”

Starting in the early 90s, Are You Afraid of The Dark quickly became an extraordinary success, earning several awards and gaining many fans. I just so happen to be one of those fans. I can remember tuning into the nick channel to watch the next scary episode. I will admit, I had a few sleepless nights.

I can remember an episode called “The Tale of the Hatching” (not included in this DVD). Two kids, Jasmine and Augie, were left at a boarding school while their parents went on a work trip. While at the school, Jasmine and Augie discovered a weird dessert called “Spunge”. This dessert somehow turned the kids into mindless robots as they cared for alien eggs. Since Jasmine and Augie never ate the spunge, they were privy to all the events happening below the school. This episode is like a kid version of Alien and it freaked me out,. It took me a while to actually eat sponge cake again. Of course, this episode and many others may also be the reason I love the Alien series and other scifi films and television..

The Tale of the Hatching

The new Are You Afraid Of The Dark, coming to DVD Aug 11, is a mini-series adaptation of the original series. The three-part limited series follows members of an entirely new Midnight Society, who tell a terrifying tale of the Carnival of Doom and its evil ringmaster Mr. Top Hat. Unfortunately for the new Midnight Society, they witness the shocking story come frightfully to life and prepare for an adventure beyond their wildest nightmares.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? Episodes:

  • Part One: Submitted For Approval
  • Part Two: Opening Night
  • Part Three: Destroy All Tophats

Along with the re-make, this DVD also includes classic episodes from the original TV series! The episodes are:

  • Season 1, Episode 2: The Tale of Laughing in the Dark
    A boy ignores a clown’s ghost in an amusement park exhibit.
  • Season 4, Episode 8: The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner
    Ethan and Hooper must stop an evil comic-book character from destroying the world with ghastly giggling.
  • Season 5, Episode 1: The Tale of the Dead Man’s Float
    A lifeguard-turned-janitor attempts to vanquish a sinister spirit lurking around the school pool.

Most of these deal with clowns…I will be keeping all the lights on while watching these classic episodes. They may be old, but they are still scary. hahahahaha

about Shimmer and Shine

Twins Shimmer and Shine are genies-in-training who grant wishes for their best friend, Leah. The wishes don’t always go as smoothly as they plan, though — after all, they’re still in training — and the girls must clean up the magical mess that results from the issues. When Shimmer, Shine, and Leah work together they are able to solve the problems that arise and make things right. Trying to correct their mistakes helps to teach young viewers about learning from mistakes and doing better next time.

Make your Own Paper Dave From Dreamworks Kipo!

Ever since I saw Kipo and The Age of the Wonderbeasts on Netflix, I have been keeping a sharp eye out for fun official printable activities and crafts. Dreamworks, however, has shown no interest in creating Kipo printables, I was beginning to think that we would never receive a single craft…until now.

Finally, on Dreamworks’ Create site, we have the first Kipo printable craft! This craft features the immortal Dave! At long last we can make our own bug buddy. Thankfully this paper craft won’t go through all his stages of life.

Guillermo del Toro’s Emmy-winning Tales of Arcadia Trilogy Wizards Coming to Netflix!

DreamWorks Animation has revealed that Wizards, the third chapter in visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s eight time Emmy-winning Tales of Arcadia trilogy, will debut on Netflix August 7! Can we just take a moment a scream like school girls? The final chapter is being released and if I am looking at the above poster correctly….Jim and Claire are coming back!!!

Trolls prepare for Killahead

Tales of Arcadia first launched in 2016 with the Emmy-winning series Trollhunters, including a first-ever Emmy win for del Toro and Rodrigo Blaas for Outstanding Directing, followed by the second installment 3Below in 2018. On the surface, Arcadia appears to be a slice of timeless Americana, but it is no ordinary town. It lies at the center of magical and mystical lines that make it a nexus for many battles among otherworldly creatures including trolls, aliens and wizards.

The Child “Baby Yoda” Party Printables

From the moment The Child “Baby Yoda” hit the scene on the Disney plus The Mandalorian TV show, he has been the biggest hit. His little self went viral with memes, art, crafts, printables, and whatever else people could do to place a little Baby Yoda in their life. I will admit, I love the little guy as well. His frog eating, force using, almost sarcastic character is brilliantly done.

With such a love for Baby Yoda, I am surprised to find very little party supplies displaying this adorable force user. I decided to fix this problem and fill the void. I created a small party kit complete with cupcake wrappers and toppers, invitations, Baby Yoda garland, A Baby Yoda coloring page, banner/bunting, place cards, fun little pillow box, and A DIY Baby Yoda Notebook.

Science is Fun with Think Like a Dog!

In celebration of of the home premiere of Think Like a Dog, we’re using science to answer one of life’s big questions: is a dog’s mouth really cleaner than a human’s? Just like how Oliver enters a science fair in the film, we’re inviting you and your kids to show off your science skills with this doggone fun experiment. Test it out for yourself and let me know…is it cleaner?

To complete this science experiment you will need:

  • Agar plates
  • Sterile cotton swabs
  • Saran plastic wrap
  • Tupperware container
  • Desk lamp
  • Sharpie marker
  • Scotch tape
  • Bottled water
  • Portable thermometer

How to complete the experiment:

  1. Step 1: Using the Sharpie marker, label agar plates with names of all participants (humans and dogs).
  2. Step 2: Dip cotton swab in bottled water and swab mouth carefully.
  3. Step 3: Carefully roll swab 360 degrees around inside of the agar plate, and place cover (or Saran plastic wrap) over plate.
  4. Step 4: Tape shut with Scotch tape and place labeled agar plate in Tupperware container along with the thermometer.
  5. Step 5: Repeat steps 2–4 using a separate, fresh cotton swab for each participant.
  6. Step 6: Once all sealed agar plates are in the Tupperware container, cover the whole container in Saran plastic wrap.
  1. Step 7: Place sealed Tupperware container under desk lamp. Keep between 80 and 100 degrees for 4–5 days.
  2. Step 8: To determine results, look at the thickness of the lines of bacteria. The thicker the lines, the dirtier the mouth. The thinner the lines, the cleaner the mouth.
  3. Conclusion: How did you compare to your dog?
