In anticipation of the release of “The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants” on Netflix, Dreamworks sent out a fun kit to introduce the crazy characters from the series. The kit includes a Captain Underpants Drawstring bag, “The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants” book (related to the TV series), and all the items needed to make the most epic sock puppets ever.

I will review the book in another blog post. For now, I want to focus on the amazing sock puppets of George Beard and Harold Hutchins. These sock puppets are fun to play with and bring the pranksters to life. Check out my puppets I made by completing the instructions below.

To make these sock puppets, one only has to find a few items. I think the leg warmers will be the most difficult to find, but I am sure any clothing store will have something that should work. If not, a sock can be used as a replacement. just cut off the foot of the sock. As for the Tan and Brown socks, simply raid the single sock drawer where we keep solitary socks hoping to one day find its pair. Find one brown sock and one tan sock and you are good to go.

Items needed:

  • 1 brown sock
  • 1 Tan sock
  • 1 white leg warmer
  • 1 green striped leg warmer
  • 2 red craft felt (4×6 ich sheet)
  • 2 black craft felt (4×6 inch sheet)
  • 4 black buttons (15mm)
  • 1 60 inch strand of black blanket yarn
  • 1 60 inch strand of yellow blanket yarn
  • Fabric scissors
  • Hot Glue gun and glue

Once all the items have been gathered, it is time for the crafting to begin. Below are the instructions to making your very own puppets like mine.
