Free Cubeecraft Paper Craft of Odd from Code Lyoko

Odd Della Robbia is a member of the Lyoko Warriors, a team bent on defeating an artificial intelligence known as X.A.N.A. Odd and his friends Ulrich, Yumi, Jeremy and Aelita fight X.A.N.A. by entering the world of Lyoko, a computer program with several zones and towers. These towers get activated by X.A.N.A. and must be turned off to save humanity in the ‘real’ world. The towers are sort of like hacking tools that can enter the systems, like those at Kadic Academy, and cause havoc. Ulrich and his friends must reach the towers and allow Aelita to shut them down. Their main goal is to protect Aelita, because if she dies in the game, she does not regenerate, or at least that is the case for much of the series.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the ‘real’ world, Odd is a normal boy who attends school with a sense of humor only he gets. He is very relaxed most of the time but can put up a fight when needed, especially in Lyoko. As a member of the Lyoko Warriors, Odd is gifted with weapons when he transforms. When Odd enters Lyoko he slightly resembles a cat with claws and a tail. His weapon of choice is a gauntlet that can fire laser arrows, which he can shoot pretty well on target.
Odd is a little bit…well…odd. He really embodies his name. I would almost call him the plucky comic relief, but he is a valued member of the Lyoko Warriors and their great friend.
This cubeecraft features Odd from Code Lyoko. He is wearing his iconic purple shirt and pants with his crazy hairdo. This cubeecraft is free to download but I do take donations. Cubeecrafts take a while to make and any amount will help keep the hobby alive.
Perseid Meteor Shower Galactic Space Bark Recipe
Perseid meteor shower
It’s August, and do you know what hat means? We will be treated to the annual Perseid meteor shower! The meteor shower starts at the end of July and goes through most of August but the best time to see it is during the next few nights of August 13th and 14th at about 1am PST. What will be truly wonderful is that this year it is a new moon! That means there will be no moonlight and we will be able to see the shooting stars flying across the sky in all their splendor. It is a brilliant time to get the family together and go camping under the stars, whether it is in your backyard or in the forest. Set up a tent and begin the star gazing.
While looking up in the sky for all the shooting stars, sneak in a few facts about the meteor shower and the stars. It is cool to learn when you don’t even know your learning. Sneak in facts like, “Bits of debris which enter Earth’s atmosphere are called meteors” or “A meteor shower is several bits of debris entering the earths atmosphere at a given time of the year like the Perseid meteor shower.” Watch the Video above for more interesting facts about the Perseid meteor shower. Maybe even pull out a constellation book and teach the new star gazers about the night sky. You can use one of the following books:
  • National Geographic Backyard Guide to the Night Sky
  • Constellations: A Field Guide To The Night Sky
  • Night Sky: A Field Guide to the Constellations
  • ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Unintentional learning and star gazing can work up an appetite so don’t forget the yummy snacks. Perhaps make them themed to match the night sky. For example, make Star Shaped sandwiches or call a glass of milk The Milky Way. Of course you could always make some delicious Galactic Space Bark found on Disney.Family.com. They only take 7 easy steps and require very few ingredients.

    Galactic Space Bark

    Dreamworks DINOTRUX is Coming to Netflix

    dinot_key_003_h

    What do we get when we cross dinosaurs with construction trucks? We get an all new series by Dreamworks called Dinotrux coming exclusively to Netflix August 14th. Roaming the earth with large tracks and an appetite for Ore, Dinotrux are half dinosaur and half truck living in the Mechazoic Era. Basically, the Jurassic era and the construction industry combine in the first exciting “action show” made for younger kids. Inspired by the book series called Dinotrux by Chris Gall, this great show features strong messages about independence and cooperation with fun dinosaur and construction vehicle action, humor and adventure.

    Dinotrux book by Chris Gall

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Dinotrux carries with it the realism of actual working vehicles and their capabilities in the field. There is no science fiction or fantasy uses for the vehicles, well except for the part that it is half dinosaur…that could be pretty fanciful. However, even though these characters are Dinotrux, a dump truck is a dump truck and is used as such. While the characters may find creative uses for their mechanics to solve problems, the viewers will never see anything outside of the realm of reality in terms of machinery and its uses. So for those hoping to see anti-gravity bulldozers or teleporting cranes, this may not be the show for you. There are however, bugs that can fly like drones and dinosaurs that almost have a transformer like quality when activating their mechanics.

    Dinotrux with dinofly and rivvet

    The combination of both dinosaurs and trucks will really capture the hearts of the younger kids in the home. It is pretty hard to go wrong when two beloved themes come together. While it may be geared (pun intended) towards the younger kids, it is also a great series for the family to watch. The characters are very entertaining in design as machine blends perfectly with a dinosaur. I found myself examining the tools and how they are displayed on each dinosaur. Revvit, a razor-sharp Reptool, has different bits attached to his back like spines, which are perfect for repairing broken Dinotruxs.

    rivvet dinotrux

    While I was examining the machines and in total awe of the well thought out placement of each part, it suddenly hit me…I have heard the voice of Ty Rux before. Ty Rux is a Tyrannosaurus Trux with dreams of making a better place with his friends. His story is inspiring as he defends the weak and builds a better place by working with others, but his voice struck me. I think I spent at least a minute trying to place it, then a blue character formed in my mind. OMG…the voice is Andrew Francis who also voices Kord from Slugterra! My family and I are huge Slugterra fans and this just made the cartoon even more epic!

    Ty Rux from DinotruxKord Zane

    Ty Rux isn’t the only awesome character featured in Dinotrux. The creators worked hard in compiling a team, or herd, that could work together, share, and get along in fun and interesting ways. The first episode concentrates mostly on the fact that Reptools and Dinotrux never talk. In fact, it amazes a few dinosaurs when they see Ty and Revvit together because it is common knowledge, “different species don’t work together.” However, Ty changes the view and becomes friends with Ton-Ton, Skya, Revvit, Dozer, Garby and more. Learn more about Ty Rux and his friends by clicking the images below and reading about them on dreamworkstv.com/shows/dinotrux. You will also be able to find a few details about D-Structs, the bully of the valley.

    Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Films Review

    WaltDisneyStudiosAnimationShortFilmsCollection

    Arriving to Digital HD/Disney Movies Anywhere August 11 and Blu-ray August 18th is Disney’s Short Films Collection featuring Frozen Fever, Feast, Paperman, Tangled Ever After, The Ballad of Nessie, Tick Tock Tale, Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa, How to Hook up Your Home Theater, The Little Matchgirl, Lorenzo, John Henry, Get a Horse and introductions and interviews with the acclaimed filmmakers themselves. Before you start watching this collection of some of the most beloved shorts let me give you a small piece of advice, be prepared for tears, a little confusion and a lot of cuteness.

    Little-MatchgirlJohn-Henry_new

    When I first watched this collection I will be honest, I had only seen six of the 12 featured: Paperman, Get a Horse, Frozen Fever, Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa, Tangled Ever After, and How to Hook up Your Home Theater. I was not prepared for the emotional roller-coaster that this Short Film Collection embodied…Oh, and I do mean emotional. I still have tears in my eyes while writing this review. My suggestion, as you grab the tissues, watch John Henry and The little Matchgirl first. These two sad tales are told beautifully through hard work, love and and the desire for a better life. Both end with dreams answered but in ways that cause the tear ducts to erupt into a flowing river, much like Nessie from The Ballad of Nessie. Once you get the tears of sadness out of the way, go straight to Goofy and his “How to Hook up Your Home Theater” to start the laughter flowing again. You will seriously need it.

    How-To-Hook-UpLorenzo

    After the Goofy laugh, watch Lorenzo and get it out of the way. It may be one of their top shorts, and many people may like it, but I think I was more confused than entertained. When a spoiled cat brags about his fluffy tail it becomes hexed and develops a mind of its own. Apparently it desires to be a dancing fool that never quits. The poor cat can’t get a moments rest. We then go into a series of attempted murders, as the cat tries to kill his own tail. Yeah strange…very, very strange. Not to mention that every attempted murder seems to result in backfire. Lorenzo the cat ends up taking the blunt of the damage for each attempt, which, I suppose, is natural considering it is his tail. From the hexed tail to the attempted murders, The short left me in dismay and confusion. Not to mention it is slightly more violent than even I like to watch. I was never more happy when “Lorenzo” was over and I could go on to a short film that would not only make me feel good but laugh as well.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I guess that is why I gravitated towards “Feast” and the wonderful story of a cute dog named Winston, dogs always make me feel better. Having three rescued puppies of my own, I was excited to watch the short film. “Feast” is told through the eyes of Winston and the meals he shares with his master that rescued him. At first everything is great, Winston can expect wonderful treats and delicious food as the two grow together as bachelors. When a woman is introduced into the mix, things go a bit wonky. The food becomes more healthy, or disgusting to Winston, and it almost seems like the poor puppy is forgotten. Believe me, I was like “Oh no, please no more heartbreak,” I don’t think I could have handled it. However, the story turns when the man and woman break up and the man goes into a state of depression. At first, Winston is simply happy having all the wonderful foods again, but he soon realizes his master is not happy. Even though his life is back to being amazing with once again delicious food, Winston performs the ultimate sacrifice and thinks of his masters happiness (the tears came rolling out again). Winston runs out the door and finds his masters lost love. While his master is once again happy, it is sad to see Winston looking depressed and lost with such a lack of luster. Once again my heart was on the verge of breaking. I was beginning to lose hope in these short films. I wasn’t sure I could handle much more, than a meatball rolls across the floor. Yeah, get ready to smile as Winston once again becomes a dog.
    I am going to place my two cents here: Even if your life changes, you find a girl or boy, get married or have kids never forget about your dog. Their life is still just as important. They are your best friends through and through. Never allow them to lose their happiness. A dog is a family member as well.

    Feast

    The rest of the stories are pretty straight forward with recognizable characters and fantastic themes from Santa Clause to a paper airplane helping a man find love. Not to mention questions you never thought you’d ask get answered. Such as, what happens when you take two rings, a spirited horse, a crazy pascal, and a wedding and throw them together? You get a Tangled Ever After with a really hilarious journey involving wine, birds, cakes, costumes and a whole lot of unfortunate events. We are also introduced to Snowman Boogies called Snowgies. Elsa catches a cold and as a result Snowgies pop out every time she sneezes, which Olaf finds absolutely amazing and names every single one of them. These short stories will definitely cause laughter and lighten up the atmosphere. No more heartbreak or sadness and no tissues needed, unless you laugh so hard you make yourself cry, which I have done.

    Free Cubeecraft Paper Craft of Rebecca Cunningham from TaleSpin

    Rebecca Cunningham is a savvy business woman in Disney’s TV Series TaleSpin, “The name of the show is a play on tailspin; the rapid, often fatal, descent of an aircraft in a steep spiral. The two words in the show’s name, tale and spin are a way to describe telling a story” (Disney Wikia). She bought Baloo’s plane when he defaulted on his loan to start a business. Since then, she has been running a business called “Higher for Hire.” Always hoping to keep her business afloat, Rebecca comes up with new gimmicks to attract new customers and clients. Sometimes things go wrong but she never gives up.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It isn’t all business for Rebecca, she does like her crew of the Sea Duck, even if they are a little…strange. She will help them with anything they need after she nags them a bit. I mean let’s face it, Baloo is not the easiest bear to get along with when you are a serious business woman.
    Rebecca Cunningham’s family consists of her daughter Molly and her close friends Baloo, Kit Cloudkicker, Wildcat, and Louie (when they are not being annoying).
    This cubeecraft features Rebecca Cunningham from TaleSpin. She is wearing her pink shirt, white turtle neck and purple pants.
    To Build the Cubeecraft:
    Materials needed:
    Printer
    Card stock
    scissors
    x-acto knife
    To make:
    1. Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
    2. Cut along the white on each tab and on either side of the face (This is where the hair will attach) using the x-acto knife
    3. Cut along each red line using the x-acto knife
    4. Fold along each inner solid black line and slide each tab into the slots you created with an x-acto knife to form a cube of the head, body, arms, and feet
    5. Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the body.
    6. Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the body.
    7. Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.
