They say the fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Meaning, give him some delicious treats and he will love you for life. I don’t know who “they” are, but I do know it works with my father. I get the biggest welcoming smile when I bake cupcakes just for him. If it works with my father, I am sure it will work with others. So why not bake the father’s day gift this year and give all the dads what they really want..CUPCAKES.

The Father’s Day Chocolaty Super Dad Cupcakes Recipe are a yummy chocolate cupcake with a blue buttercream and hazelnut frosting topped with a super dad cupcake topper. Follow the instructions below to make some super cupcakes.

Chocolaty Super Dad Cupcakes
Ingredients:

Directions:
Cupcakes:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place Baking Cups in each of 12 regular-size muffin cups.
2. In medium bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder; set aside.
3. In small bowl, mix boiling water and cocoa until dissolved.
4. In large bowl, beat 1/2 cup butter with electric mixer on medium speed 30 seconds. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Beat 2 more minutes.
5. Beat in vanilla and egg until blended.
6. On low, alternatively add flour mixture and cocoa mixture, beating just until blended.
7. Divide batter among muffin cups. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes.
8. Remove from pan and let cool completely.

Frosting:
1. Using a mixer, cream butter
2. add vanilla
3. slowly add powdered sugar 1/4 cup at a time. Make sure it is mixed well after each addition
4. add 1 tsp of milk at a time until desired consistency.
5. add blue food coloring 1 drop at a time. Mix well after each addition to get to desired color.
6. stir in hazelnuts
7. Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes.

Decorate:
1. Cut out the cupcake toppers and glue or tape them to the toothpicks
2. Top each cupcake with a Super Dad Cupcake Topper.
3. Display and enjoy!

This recipe doesn’t include a cake recipe. It requires an already baked 9 x 13 inch rectangular cake. Below are the ingredients and items needed to create the Strawberry and Stripes Cake. Follow the instructions on how to decorate the cake for best results. However, this is a DIY project and anything similar can be done. For example, replace the strawberries with another red fruit, like raspberries, and still pull off the American Flag image. It can then be called Raspberries and Stripes Cake. Cherries or red grapes could also make a great substitution.

Strawberry and Stripes Cake Decoration Instructions
Items and ingredients needed:

The amount of berries listed is a general estimate. The amount of blueberries and strawberries is relative to the size of the berries. If the berries are small you will need more of them to complete the Strawberry and Stripes Cake flag.

Directions

1. Frost the entire cake with the White Whipped Topping.
2. In the Upper left hand corner place 48 blueberries in a rectangle. Place 8 blueberries across and place 6 down, evenly spaced apart (see image).
3. Start at the end of the top line of the blueberries. Place strawberry halves down into the frosting in a straight line across the cake. Conitnue this patter right below the first line of strawberries to form the stripes of the American flag. there will be about 6 lines depending on the size of the strawberries.
4. Add extra blueberries around the sides of the cake to add a little festive decor..
5. Display and enjoy!

Answer: the 50 stars represent the 50 states that make up the United States of America. The 13 stripes that alternate in red and white represent the first 13 colonies.

In 1777, one year after the United States of America’s gained their independence, Americans celebrated with fireworks decorating the sky. imagine the awe in Philadelphia as beautiful explosions lit the sky in magical colors of red, white and blue. This tradition has been part of our celebrations from the beginning, and today many 4th of July events are marked with an amazing choreographed fireworks display.

The fireworks display doesn’t have to remain in the sky. It can also take place on a table at our next barbecue. Orientaltrading.com shares a cute new recipe called “Hot Dog Fireworks” that will help bring the joy of fireworks to the table as fun food art.

This recipe takes an ordinary hot dog and makes it extraordinary. It is simple to create and takes very few ingredients to make.

Hot Dog Fireworks

1. Wrap each hot dog with the bread-stick dough and bake it according to instructions
2. Turn a cupcake wrapper upside down and slide a skewer through the wrapper
3. When the hot dog and bread are fully cooked, carefully skewer the hot dog and slide the cupcake wrapper to the bottom of the hot dog.
4. With the toothpicks place a triangular piece of cheese on the tip of the hot dog.
5. Display upright to look like fireworks.

Don’t forget to grab skewers and cupcake wrappers with toothpicks to complete the “Hot Dog Fireworks” recipe.
