On May 30th, 2014 We will get to see Angelina Jolie portray Maleficent in Disney’s new movie Maleficent. While there haven’t been any releases for fun printables or activities featuring the cast of this new movie (yet), I am still overly excited to see it. Get Square with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in the Film “The Boxtrolls”

The BoxTrolls SKGaleana

On September 26, 2014, the creators of “Coraline” and “ParaNorman,” will be releasing a new stop motion film called “The BoxTrolls” to a theater near you! Check out a new teaser trailer below.

I think What I am most excited about is that fact that the movie will be featuring the voices of Simon Pegg (Star Trek) and Nick Frost (The Adventures of Tintin). They are probably the two most epic geeks in the movie industry. They certainly do not hide the fact that they love several different fandoms, including Star Trek and Star Wars. I am sure they will do fantastic when it comes to their voice-over rolls by bringing their characters to life. September 26th can’t come fast enough. 😀

While the date seems so far away, “The Boxtrolls” facebook page has released a couple of printables to help ease the anxiety.

~The first printable is a Valentine’s day Shoe box mail box. Print out the head, top and the 4 sides to make an awesome display. The cool part is, just print page 3 twice and use the side without the Valentine’s day logo, and you can make this mailbox for any time of the year.

~The second Printable is a Holiday Treat box for Candy Canes or other sweets. It isn’t Christmas anymore but I am sure with just a little effort and the paint program you can change the candy cane image to any image you wish.

~The Third Printable is a fun little Haumatrope. Take a pen, pencil, or stick and glue the circles back to back with the pen, pencil or stick up the middle inside. When it is dry quickly twist the stick back and forth in the palm of your hands. A Boxtroll will appear.

I am sure more printables will be available as we inch closer to the release date. Until then, download, print and create these fun printables

RESCUE BOTS: Heroes on the Scene Coming to DVD March 18, 2014

Rescue Bots: Heroes on the Scene comes to DVD March 18, 2014 with 5 exciting episodes. The DVD features four Transformer Bots (CHASE, HEATWAVE, BLADES, and BOULDER) living on an island called Griffin Rock. They are on earth to learn from the Burns Family while helping the family rescue the citizens when things go awry. The theme song sums up their mission and their reason for helping those in need. Optimus Prime gave them an order to earn the respect of the people, learn their ways and serve and protect. With that in mind, the Rescue Bots become super heroes to those around them.
|

Theme Song
A routine patrol with four Bots in stasis,
Years later awoke in the strangest of places.
Earth was their home now and in addition,
Optimus Prime gave them this mission:

‘Learn from the humans, serve and protect,
Live in their world, earn their respect.
A family of heroes will be your allies,
To others remain robots in disguise.’

Rescue Bots, roll to the rescue,
Humans in need, heroes indeed,
Rescue Bots, roll to the rescue,
Rescue Bots.

With Cody to guide them and show them the way,
Rescue Bots will be saving the day.

Rescue Bots, roll to the rescue,
Rescue Bots.

The episodes on this DVD use an action packed and entertaining show to teach kids common sense and morals
~The Lost Bell teaches kids to learn from the past to help you in the present and future. Sometimes technology of today is useless in cases when you are stranded and need to build shelter or find water.
~In You’ve Been Squilshed, the family is sent to rescue the city from a flubber like substance, referred to as a giant booger or Overgrown Loogie. Kids will learn scientific terms and the concept if at first you don’t succeed Try again.
~Little White Lies teaches that no matter how small or insignificant a lie may appear, they are never a good idea and may lead to trouble.
~Shake Up shows viewers that it is OK to have a secret, everyone has one.
~Rescue Boy informs viewers that no amount of power or technology should take away from common sense. I think more people should watch this episode. 😀

I found these episodes to be wonderful for all ages. Not only does each episode hold a moral, a lesson for the viewer to understand, but it also has comedy that is directed to kids of all ages. I often found myself laughing in several places, especially when Chase, the cop car Transformer Rescue Bot, tried to understand Humor and invent his own jokes. I don’t think he really ever grabs onto the concept. He is more like Data from Star Trek The Next Generation, logical and often emotionless.

In fact, for those who are geeks, such as myself, there are many hidden references to other fandoms. There is even a reference to “A Christmas Story” in Rescue Boy when Cody exclaims “I can’t put my arms down.” I found myself laughing so hard that I had all heads turned at me. Sometimes my geekiness gets me in trouble, however, I found it entertaining that such geeky references would be included in a children’s TV show. I wonder if we have LeVar Burton to thank for that?

To make watching the episode even more fun, I challenge each viewer to find all the geeky references. Post them in the comments below when you think you have found one.

Below are the DVD details and a list of Free Transformer Rescue Bots Printables. The printables are free to download, print and create. They will make wonderful party gifts or great activities for an entertaining movie night.

Disneynature Bears Free Printables

Disney Bears Printables SKGaleana

For Earth Day on April 18th 2014, Disney is releasing a new Disneynature film about Bears. I am excited to see this one because They do filming in Alaska, which is my home state. I have seen my fair share of Brown Bears and to see them on the big screen is exciting. This film will follow a family of bears as they learn about nature and what they need to do to survive.

“In an epic story of breathtaking scale, Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure “Bears” showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life’s most important lessons. Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, their journey begins as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold. The world outside is exciting—but risky—as the cubs’ playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches. As the season changes from spring to summer, the brown bears must work hard to find food—ultimately feasting at a plentiful salmon run—while staying safe from rival male bears and predators, including an ever-present wolf pack. “Bears” captures the fast-moving action and suspense of life in one of the planet’s last great wildernesses—Alaska! Directed by Alastair Fothergill (“Earth,” “African Cats” and “Chimpanzee”) and Keith Scholey (“African Cats”), “Bears” arrives in theaters April 18, 2014, to celebrate Earth Day.” (Disneynature Bears)

Below are a few Printables that Disney has provided to the excited viewers, teachers and students. The bears educator material has over 90 pages with several lessons to help kids learn all about brown bears and their environment. I also found a few coloring pages with bears.

Cubeecraft of Momiji Sohma from Fruits Basket

I became a huge fan of Fruits Basket after I watched the entire season on netflix (Yes, I am one of those that stayed up all night just to watch an entire season and fall in love with it 😀 ). From there I had to know more of what happened to all the characters, Do Tohru and Kyo ever finally make their love work? Who does Yuki fall in love with? Do they ever break the curse?
Of course after just a little research I found that all my answers were in the Fruits Basket Manga. I eventually read all of those (that took a lot longer than 1 night hahahaha).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After my discovery of such a wonderful anime, I began making cubeecrafts of my favorite characters. It turns out that many of you love them so much that I am getting requests for other Sohma family members.
Today’s cubeecraft is of Momiji Sohma. He is the rabbit of the Chinese Zodiac. Momiji is a very cheerful boy who is often mistaken for an elementary school student although he is 15 years old. Even Tohru fell for his cute young boyish charm, making her think he was a cute little kid instead of a teenager.
Momiji, while most of the time appearing bubbly and happy, also has a tough past like most of the Sohma family zodiac members. His mom could not handle the idea that her son changed to a rabbit every time he was hugged by a member of the opposite sex. She eventually had her mind erased so that she wouldn’t lose her sanity. Momiji knows who his mother is but his mother is to never know who he is. While he sometimes appears sad over these events, he never really lets it bring him down. He is often overly excited and an annoyance to Kyo (but in all honesty who doesn’t annoy Kyo LOL).
Materials needed:
Printer
Card stock
scissors
x-acto knife
To make:
  1. Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
  2. Cut along the white on each tab using the x-acto knife
  3. Cut along each red line using the x-acto knife
  4. Cut along the white line above the hat. the hat will not fold when you fold along the black line.
  5. Fold along each inner solid black line and slide each tab into the slots created with an x-acto knife to form a cube of the head, arms, and feet, and body
  6. Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the body.
  7. Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the body.
  8. Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.
He is now complete. To download this cubeecraft click the image below and save it to your computer. Then simply print and create.
Free Disney Tarzan Printables, Coloring Pages, and Activities
Tarzan Printables SKGaleana
Back when Phil Collins was singing and making music, he made a song for Disney’s movie Tarzan called “You’ll Be In My Heart.” This song is still so beautiful and I listen to it when I play my Disney Playlist.
Not only is the music spectacular in this movie, but so is the story, characters, and art. Disney took a classic story and remade it into a fun, kid loving film. I mean who can hate gorillas that play the drums on pots and pans, or the quirky way Jane tries to get through life, or a crazy scientist Father who’s one liners just make you laugh? In all honesty, I liked this movie as a kid and still like it today.
Story
“With his wisecracking ape buddy Terk and neurotic elephant pal Tantor, Tarzan learns to survive in the animal kingdom. His “Two Worlds” collide with the arrival of humans, forcing Tarzan to choose between a “civilized” life with the beautiful Jane and the life he knows and loves with his gorilla family.” (Disney Tarzan)
In my search for Tarzan printables, I found that there are very few out there. Oh sure you can find some coloring pages, but activities are limited. I took it upon myself to make a couple activities that I think will be fun to complete. I made a Printable Memory Game, Printable Cupcake toppers that also double as stickers if printed on sticker paper, A Tarzan Maze, and A Which Path Activity.
These printables make awesome activities for the kids who need a little something to help get rig of boredom or they make great prizes. I have a friend that uses printables like these to give as a prize when all the chores are done or if they complete all their homework.
Feel free to save, print and create these printables. They were made to be fun for kids of all ages.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Printables, Coloring Pages and Activities
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter’s night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman’s ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart, and as punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast, and placed a powerful spell on the castle, and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the beast concealed himself inside his castle, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his twenty-first year. If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a beast?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Above is the introduction to Beauty and the Beast, a love story, a tale that is as old as time. It is probably one of my favorite Disney princess Films (I know I say that about almost all of them) but this one, as a kid, I saw over and over again. I can repeat the movie word for word and I used to act it out with costumes in front of my family. When my parents took my brother and I on a road trip, he and I would pick a Disney movie, select characters, and then begin reciting the movie; Beauty and the Beast was often a favorite choice.
Below are some of my favorite Beauty and the Beast printables. Keep in mind there are tons out there, all you have to do is search “Beauty and the Beast printables” on Google and you will find several coloring pages and printables. Below are the ones I like the most and ones that may be harder to find for some people (especially the puppets). Go ahead and download the free printables, print and create. They are fun for kids of all ages, for the young at heart, and the Digital hoarder (like me :D).
