Picture it. It is 8 pm and the craving for the most amazing Grasshopper Pie Blizzard hits you in the face. Yeah, this is a craving that must be satisfied and I just so happen to know of a specific Dairy Queen that knows how to make said Blizzard. In fact, this specific Dairy Queen is the only one that will satisfy my cravings as I have been denied by others saying it doesn’t exist. The Rathdrum, Idaho Dairy Queen gets me.
~
Anyway, it is 8pm and my friend Michelle and I head out to the best place to get ice cream. Of course, at the time, I had no idea that I would regress into a state of childhood love with a box of crayons and a simple Back to School coloring page, but hat is just what happened. After ordering my lovely sweet Grasshopper Pie Blizzard, I grabbed a coloring page from the counter and was handed a box of 36 crayons. Oh yes, this was no 3 crayon joint, this was an entire box filled with a rainbow of colors to choose from. My friend and I quickly sat down and began our coloring adventure.
The moment the crayon touched the paper I was shot back into the 90s coloring at my desk. Time Travel is real at Dairy Queen. The crayons that we were using at that moment were nothing short of 90s gold. Recently, I have noticed that crayons have lost their spark. The coloring is dull and the ability to create camo or florescent swirls has been lost to a stiff structure. It’s a sad world for crayons right now, unless you are Playskool.
The ice cream trip turned into an amazing crayon discovery. The Playsckool Crayons we were handed to make our awesome designs were nothing short of amazing. They had the perfect waxy feel that allowed for bleed effects, bright colors, and perfect crayon-to-paper feel. I have fallen in love with Playskool crayons. I am not sure if their washable crayons are different from their “original” crayons, but I do know that this box of crayons is a time traveling portal in nostalgia.
What was supposed to be a quick ice cream trip actually turned into an hour of coloring at a DQ table trying to get a page colored before they closed their doors. It was a rush and yet a moment to savor is crayon history.
Unfortunately, I had to return the box of epicness so that others could also use the colors to create their amazing pages of color. It was a fun experience and a wonderful opportunity for us to take a moment and just enjoy eating ice cream and coloring. Hopefully my art is good enough to make the board…I will be checking.
Disclosure: Dairy Queen did not purchase or ask for me to write this revie. I simply wanted ice cream and learned about an awesome box of crayons and had to share. I only share and recommend products or services I think will be a good fit for my readers. All the opinions are 100% my own. Charming, fun, and great for all ages, this Advent Calendar is an unforgettable gift for any Star Wars fan!
Insight Editions sent me a copy of this Advent Calendar and here is what I think:
Let me be completely honest, I am a Star Wars fan. I love almost anything Star Wars, from the books to the movies, I collect them all. In fact, I have a huge collection of comic books and action figures that decorate my home in all their galactic awesomeness. So when I got the chance to review this Advent Calendar I jumped at the chance.
I love the cover of this calendar. Vader, Boba Fett, and several troopers are all singing carols with ornaments above their heads depicting famous star wars characters and ships. If I had one critique, I would say that the colors are just a bit dull for the Star Wars series. They needed a much brighter red with an almost glossy tone to give it the Lightsaber-glow feel.
Inside the duller colors continue, but the images of a Star Wars Christmas are amazing. 25 envelopes feature several graphic images that showcase Yoda, Luke, Jango, a Porg, and many other creatures, ships, and characters from the Star Wars franchise. My favorite decorated envelope is number 14, the AT-AT envelope. Envelope 22 has me saying, “It’s A Trap” every time I look at it.
Like my previous Advent Calendar reviews, I will be opening 5 random envelopes and sharing what is inside. However, this time, they are not so random, I will be opening 14 because of the AT-AT and 22 because of Ackbar. The other numbers included in the reveal will be 2, 9, and 18, which were chosen at random.
Envelope 2 contains Host Your Own Cantina Holiday Party mini book. It features a list of Star Wars Holiday Music titles, Lothal Spicebrew recipe, Bantha Chai recipe, and a Mos Eisley Cantina Cupcake recipe. This mini book also doubles as an ornament.
Envelope 9 contains a candy cane lightsaber pencil. Would a red and white holiday candy cane lightsaber be light side or dark side?
Envelope 14 contains a popup mini greeting card featuring Vader and his Christmas workshop. OMG! The stormtroopers are elves! hehehe
Envelope 18 contains two recipe cards: Life Day Cake (stir, whip, stir, whip, stir, whip whip, stir) and Won-Taun Tundra Treats (might be smelly).
Envelope 22 contains 4 Star Wars film characters images with their famous quotes printed on the back The images are a bit dark but they are cute and will work well as bookmarks.
Other items included in this advent calendar are a Darth Vader button, a Kylo Ren Keychain, a phone accessory, and much more! In fact, I kind of want to share another envelope that made me laugh so hard. but that means I will ruin the surprise! Just note that Day 20 promises to be hilarious. If you wish to see what is contained in each envelope and ruin the surprise, use the slideshow below. Each image will feature five envelopes and what is inside.
WARNING: This Slideshow contains spoilers. Do not use this slideshow if you wish the envelopes to remain a secret. Don’t fall for the temptations of the darks ide. Wait, and enjoy each surprise each day. Of course for you dark side followers, the spoilers are below.
I absolutely love the fun candy cane lightsaber pencils, the hilarious recipe cards, the magnet (probably one of my favorite items), and the other iconic Holiday items this advent calendar has to offer. The items are well made and will make any star wars fan happy to have them. The mini books in this collection are from a cheaper paper than other advent calendars in this collection, but they still hold wonderful information regarding Star Wars and Star Wars parties. The Christmas Tags will certainly be adorning some gifts to friends this year.
I give this advent calendar five stars. I am sure fellow Star Wars fans will enjoy the galactic surprises that await them through the 25 days of Advent.

It’s time to get something special for this holiday season that will give a gift every day for 25 days! No apocalyptic disaster will stop this Advent Calendar featuring the award-winning video game series, Fallout. This time we can celebrate with the Vault Dweller as we get themed gifts each day! Place this Calendar on a table or under the tree and make it a holiday decoration any geek will be happy to see. The Fallout: The Official Vault Dweller’s Advent Calendar, made by Insight Editions, will be available Oct. 12, 202 for 29.99. It has a vault of special surprises including stickers, buttons, and other various Vault-Tec inspired items.
Fallout: The Official Vault Dweller’s Advent Calendar features 25 days of surprises and unique keepsakes ranging from fun paper ornaments to recipe cards, mini books, and more inspired by the award winning video game series. The perfect gift for gamers, Lone Wanderers, and Sale Survivors alike, Fallout: The Official Vault Dweller’s Advent Calendar is a great way to make this year’s holiday festivities extra special!
I received a copyy to conduct a review and here is what I thought.
For those looking for an iconic book/calendar that will capture the eye of every vault dweller in your home, than look no further. The hardcover depicts Vault Boy with a Christmas hat and a thumbs up in classic Fallout colors. The inside of the book/calendar holds 25 envelopes, each one numbered for the 25 days of Advent The packets feature graphic art inspired by the Fallout series with the Vault Dweller Nuka Cola, and other Christmassy images.
The goal is to open each packet without succumbing to the dangers of the world. The trick is, we can only open the numbered envelope on the corresponding day. That means, our game must last 25 days in the most epic of Christmas countdowns.
I absolutely love the graphic art and design. It nails the cola on the head with it’s state of the art Vault-Tech design. At least with this calendar, we don’t have to leave our vault in search of surprises. all we have to do is open a small envelope and reap the rewards.
In order to get a good idea of what this Advent Calendar contains, I figured I would open 5 random envelopes and see what is inside. To get random numbers I asked a family member to give me five numbers between 1 and 25. She selected 5, 8, 14, 17, and 21.
Envelope 5 contains a Sunset Sarsaparilla: Made with oure cane sugar bookmark or mini poster. It is on a high quality glossy paper. It will work great as a classic sign to display in your vault’s living area or use in your favorite book.
Envelope 8 contains two Christmas Tags with To and From featuring the logo for Nuka Cola. During an apocalypse, it is still a good idea to mention who a gift belongs to. These tags will help with the ambiguity that comes from blank presents.
Envelope 14 contains a thick cardstock drink coaster featuring a red Vitruvian man. This will help that cup of coffee connect with everything while you dwell in your vault.
Envelope 17 contains a Fallout Your Special Mini Book. It is an adorable book that shares what each letter in the word special means. For example, “E is for Endurance, and that’s how long I can play! I’m always really healthy, and have energy all day!”
Envelope 21 contains a Fallout Pencil decorated with nuclear explosions and Vault Boy, the corporate mascot of the Vault-Tec Corporation. This pencil will come in handy when it is time to take notes or make a list of what you need to get when you leave your vault.
All five of these items are fun to open and fun to have. My favorite one of the bunch has to be the SPECIAL Mini Book. It is on high gloss paper and can come out year after year for the holiday season or sit perfectly on a bookshelf to add that wonderful vault feel.
I did look at all the other items included in the Fallout: The Official Vault Dweller’s Advent Calendar because…well…I wanted to see everything inside. Let me just say, it is so much fun! Several of the envelopes feture recipe cards, Vault-tec ad cards, stickers, and more! For those that wish to know what is inside each envelope, I have included a slideshow below.
WARNING: The slide shopw will show every single envelop and what is inside. This will destroy the surprise. So if you wish for each gift to remain a mystery do not switch through the slideshow.
I think these items are wonderfully done and that they are gonna be epic keepsakes for any Fallout fan. Many of the paper goods are printed on high-quality glossy paper and are made to last if taken care of properly. Some of the items are one hit wonders. The pencil will eventually be unusable, the gift tags are used once to give to your Fallout friends, and the stickers need to find a perfect permeant home. Each of these items will leave a lasting geek impression which makes me give this Advent Calendar five stars.
If you wish to grab a copy of this advent calendar before the end of the world hits and we all have to become Vault Dwellers, Simply head over to Amazon.com (affiliate link). It will arrive with plenty of time to start the fun reveal of each envelope for 25 days!

How you doin? Is it possible to be ready for Christmas with the help of Friends? I would have to say absolutely. As it turns out, Insight Editions has created a brand new Friends The Television Series Official Advent Calendar for 2021. The calendar showcases some of the most memorable moments from the series, including a turkey with sunglasses, coffee shop graphics, and many pictures from the actual series.
Celebrate the holidays with this brand new official Friends Advent Calendar! Reunite with the entire Friends crew, including Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, and Joey, as well as cameos from Janice, Mike Hannigan, and more. Revisit iconic and beloved moments from the show with more than 40 keepsakes and mementos ranging from fun mini booklets to trivia games, stationery, a special cell phone accessory, and much more! Nostalgic and entertaining, Friends: The Official Advent Calendar is an exclusive must-have for any Friends fan. It’s the perfect ay to capture memories from the series as you celebrate the holidays with this timeless collectible.
I received the opportunity to review the Official Advent Calendar of the Friends Television Series and here is what I thought.
The Hard cover advent calendar is certainly created with Friends in mind. It features images of the case, the logo and graphics that relate to the series such as a lobster, a turkey with sunglasses and a coffee cup. I is easy to say that and Friends fan would love to have this on their table or under their tree for the 25 days of Advent.
Of course, the cover is not what we are here for. We are here to find out if this advent calendar is worth having. Does it contain fun memorabilia that fans would love to receive? The only way to be sure, is to actually open the calendar and see what is inside. Luckily, we don’t have to wait until December. Since I have the calendar in my possession, we get to see some of the items now.
The inside of the book features a 20×14 inch calendar with 25 envelopes covered in graphics and images inspired by the Friends series. Each envelope is randomly number to make the fan search for the date in question to open their gift of the day.
The packets are fairly flat, which means most of the items hidden inside will more than likely be paper products. If it is anything like the other advent calendars in the Insight Editions series, then the Friends calendar will contain glossy paper ornaments, mini books, a few stickers, and possibly a button or two. Usually these items are very high quality so I am excited to see what we get.
I selected five random envelopes to see what we can look forward to. I figured 1/5th of the collection should give us a pretty good idea of what to expect. They were a bit difficult to open since the envelopes are so close together, but the work is worth it.
In envelope 13 I found a cute sticky notepad with a wreath and a coffee cup as the background image. There are about 50 sheets on high quality paper. It is adorable.
Envelope 7 was a tough one to open because envelope 23 kept getting in the way. However, once I got the present out, I found an adorable mini book call The Friends guide to New York City. It has six pages about iconic buildings and places in New York.
Envelope 21 contains a little mini book called “Everything I need to know I learned from Friends”. These lessons are some of the most important lessons to learn, such as:
It’s ok if your first marriage doesn’t work out. You’ll find your lobster eventually.
The hug and roll method is a great way to create more space in your head
Don’t put your head inside a raw turkey. Just don’t.
And many more on the 6 pages.
Envelope 1 contains an awesome 14 page mini activity book. The activities include are
Word search
Who said it?
Coloring Pages
Mazes
Crosswords
Envelop 9 contains 2 tissue paper drink umbrellas. Welcome to our tropical Christmas Party with these umbrellas that feature the Friends logo . Perhaps we can have a little Friends cocktail hour hehehe.
I actually enjoyed these five gifts. I think they are adorable and a few can be reused each year as an ornament on the tree. For example the mini books come with little ties making them double as ornaments. The notepad and activity book are a one time use, but awesome for any fan to have. There are another 20 items included in this advent calendar that range from paper ornaments to stickers. There is even a set of mini Bingo cards to play a game while watching Friends. I think these items are fun to open, use, and look at. Their quality is good and well worth having. At $30 for the book, that makes each item worth about a dollar, and I think some might be worth more than that. I would say it is a definite score for any fan. I give the Friends Official Advent Calendar Five stars.
If you want to get a copy of the Advent Calendar, head over to Amazon.com (affiliate link).
Well, well, what have we here? An Advent Calendar that may just instill fear? Jack Skellington will light the way as he attempts to take over another holiday. Well he certainly has taken over the idea of an Advent Calendar. Thanks to Insight Editions’, we now have an official Advent Calendar celebrating all things from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas featuring Jack, Zero, Oogie Boogie, Sally and more!
Come along and discover the frighteningly fun surprises that the residents of Halloween Town have been brewing up for Christmas this year. Counting down to the festive holiday has never been more ghoulishly delightful than with this entertaining countdown calendar filled with mini books, ornaments, and other mementos. Uncover a new surprise each day of December with Nightmare-inspired stationery, trinkets, games, and recipe cards featuring fabulous foods from Halloween Town and Christmas Town. The Nightmare Before Christmas Official Advent Calendar of Ghoulish Delights will fill your holidays with fright!
I received the opportunity to conduct a frightfully scary review of this ghoulish advent calendar and this is what I thought.
Upon first glance, the cover of this advent calendar is everything fans have come to love about The Nightmare Before Christmas. The hardcover features Jack, Sally, Zero, and other characters from the nightmarish movie. With the teal wallpaper like background and silver tone accents, it is a delight to look at.
Once a fan opens the book, there is an explosion of colors and characters adorning each numbered envelope. It is a frightful site to behold. There are 25 envelopes randomly placed on the book making a fan search for the day in question in order to open it for something strange. The envelopes are flat, which makes me believe that the items inside will be made of paper printed in the theme of The Nightmare Before Christmas.
I opened four random envelopes so that fans can see what’s inside. The four random envelopes I opened were 1, 8, 12 ,and 19.
Envelope 1 contained a little wooden ornament featuring Jack Skellington . I am surprised to find this in an envelope. Honestly I expected them all to be paper goods, so this was a frightful delight.
Envelope 8 contained two recipe cards featuring Oogie Boogie Pasta Worms and Oogie Boogie Bag of Bugs. They don’t sound all the tasty, but hey, someone will love them.
Envelope 12 contained a magnetic bookmark of the Pumpkin King. This magnet actually pulls apart and then comes back together around the pages you wish to save. This item works as a magnetic paperclip as well!
Envelope 19 contained a small button featuring Sally and Jack. This button is tiny but oh so adorable. The button is less than an inch in diameter but vibrant and iconic.
All four of these items were very well made, the images were clear, the colors vibrant, and fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas will love them. Of course, I can’t end the review on just four random items, so I have taken the initiative and opened every single envelope. Below I have shared pictures of all the gifts included.
WARNING: The Slide Show below will spoil the items contained inside the advent calendar. Only use the slideshow if you wish to ruin the frightful surprises.
The Nightmare Before Christmas Advent Calendar is truly a ghoulish delight. Every item is well made and depicts many of the main characters in the film. Some of the items even nod to the musical numbers. While many of the items are paper products such as the ornaments, cards, books, and recipe cards, they are high quality. The books are glossy, the ornaments shine, and the recipe cards are prefect to use in the kitchen. It is certainly a wonderful collection. I give The Nightmare Before Christmas Official Advent Calendar of Ghoulish Delights five stars. I think this fun Christmas countdown will be a fun calendar for fans to open each day..
