A Foolproof Recipe to make Homemade Mayonnaise

My family and I used to love to put mayonnaise on our sandwiches and inside my famous potato salad. However, since I have discovered what mayonnaise is when bought from the grocery store (basically a GMO mess), we gave it up and learned to live without the yummy flavor of Mayo. It has been a rough road to say the least.

Recently, I have started making many of my foods by hand and limiting the pre-made foods one can find at the supermarket. With our foods being pumped full of Aluminum, aspartame and other ingredients to make them last longer, I decided it was time to go the homemade and more healthy route.

One night I was making a potato salad with sour cream instead of mayonnaise and I was asked if I could make homemade mayonnaise. I said sure why not. I mean how hard could it be right?

It turns out, Mayonnaise is a science all in itself. After several failures, I was just about to give up on ever introducing mayo back into my family’s life. That is, until I came across a blog claiming to have a FOOLPROOF HOMEMADE MAYO recipe. In one last desire to make a delicious mayo, I clicked the blog link and began to read the ingredients and instructions.

The first question that popped into my mind was…Could it be that simple? With the mentality that this was too good to be true, I nearly closed the window. But toward the bottom of the post was an animated gif of the process and how it looked.

Ok, I decided to try it.

I quickly found all the required ingredients and items
1 egg
2 tsp white vinegar
1 pinch of salt
1 cup of Extra Light flavor Olive oil
1 mason jar
1 immersion blender

Like the instruction stated, I placed the egg in the mason jar and added the salt and vinegar

I then added the 1 cup of oil and let the egg come to a rest at the bottom of the jar

Once everything was settled, I pushed my immersion blender to the bottom of the mason jar and blended the ingredients for 20 seconds without moving the blender. After the 20 seconds I moved my blender up to incorporate the rest of the oil. What came out of 25 seconds of blending is nothing short of a miracle. I watched as the egg and oil transformed into a creamy and tasty mayonnaise.

Immediately I grabbed a tasting spoon and savored the delicious mayonnaise. It was perfect. I can honestly say that this recipe is foolproof.

I will be adding other ingredients to the mayonnaise, like a tart relish to go on a cheeseburger, or some peppers to add a nice kick. There are so many possibilities now that I can make mayonnaise. However, the first thing I made after my Mayonnaise came out so sublime was my famous potato salad. Let’s just say I have a very happy family.

Earth to Echo Transports to Theaters July 2, 2014

Earth to Echo is opening in theaters nationwide on July 2, 2014. It features four friends (Alex, Munch, Tuck and Emma) who find a small cute alien. In this found footage adventure, the kids race against time to save Echo and get him home.

Story:

In Relativity’s PG summer family adventure movie, Tuck, Munch and Alex are a trio of inseparable friends whose lives are about to change. Their neighborhood is being destroyed by a highway construction project that is forcing their families to move away. But just two days before they must part ways, the boys begin receiving a strange series of signals on their phones.

Convinced something bigger is going on, they team up with another school friend, Emma, and set out to look for the source of their phone signals. What they discover is something beyond their wildest imaginations: a small alien who has become stranded on Earth. In need of their help, the four friends come together to protect the alien and help him find his way home. This journey, full of wonder and adventure, is their story, and their secret. From what I have seen in the trailers and what I have read, this story will be a cross between E.T., Transformers, and Super 8 with a little Batteries Not Included flare. While there are several naysayers out there who think that this type of movie has been overly done, I am not one of them and I am fairly excited to see Earth to Echo. I have to admit that the main reason I want to see this film is because of the cute little Alien. I mean look at that face:

How can anyone not fall in love with this little guy? It reminds me so much of the Batteries Not Included Aliens.

New Disney Princess Palace Pet Coloring page of Windflower

Disney Princess Palace Pets are pets that the Disney princesses have adopted. Each princess has several specific pets that seem to emulate their character and the location that they come from. For example, Tiana from Princess and the Frog has a pony named Bayou. Bayou tail copies Tiana’s signature short wavy bangs.

The official Disney Princess Palace Pets website has several printable coloring pages of the first palace pets introduced. However, Disney has not released any new princess palace pets since the creation of the website. I have had several requests to make coloring pages of the Disney Princess Palace Pets. Over the last few months I have worked on creating these coloring pages.

Today I have finished Windflower.

Windflower is a raccoon whose owner is Pocahontas. She has sky-blue fur, dark blue nose and ears, and brown eyes. She wears a jewel adorned headband with pink, purple and blue feathers, and she also wears a shawl with a design similar to Pocahontas’ dress.

She is a very mischievous raccoon. The pet loves exploring and playing, but she can’t help getting in trouble. Pocahontas was at the river, when she heard a noise and saw a big frog leaping in front of her. Just then, the princess noticed something moving inside an old hollow log. She approached and found Windflower! (Disney Wiki)

Free Cubeecraft Based on Stephen Amell’s Character, The Arrow

Since The Arrow first aired on TV, I have been a big fan. I really enjoy Green Arrow in the comics and was so excited to see an awesome DC character make it to a television show. Every story line that CW has aired has left me on my seat wondering what will happen next, what really happened the five years he was missing, and how will these events effect his super hero identity.

Since Arrow Season 2 has ended, I have been going through a few withdrawals. I decided To put that energy into something constructive and make an Arrow cubeecraft based on Stephen Amell’s Character: the Arrow.

This cubeecraft features the Arrow in his Green hood and hero uniform. It also features his Bow. The Bow is difficult to cut out and requires a little time and a steady hand. Take your time when cutting it out.

Cubeecraft
Materials needed:
Printer
Card stock
scissors
craft knife

To make:

Cut out each item along the outer black lines.
Cut along the white on each tab using the craft knife an cut around the chin so that it does not bend when the cubeecraft is folded
Cut along each red line using the craft knife
Fold along each inner solid black line and slide each tab into the slots created with an craft knife to form a cube of the head, body, arms, and feet
Slide the arms through the red slots on either side of the body.
Slide the feet through the red slots at the base of the body.
Slide the now completed body through the red lots of the head.
Carefully cut out the Bow and fold it in half so that the bow is double sided.
Slide the bow in to The Arrow’s hand.
