Abominable Snowman’s Lemon Snow Cones – Recipe

For those who haven’t started watching Monsters at Work on Disney+, I suggest you do so. It’s an amazing series that features a lot of new monsters. Monsters at Work starts when Mike and Sulley becoming the leaders of Monsters Inc with Mike taking the title of Senior Co-President of Monsters, Incorporated and Chief Executive Vice-Deputy Administrative Director of Comedy Resources Management, and Sulley taking the title of CEO. As the factory transitions from scare power to laugh power, all the monsters are trying to find their place in the company, including a new employee named Tylor Tuskmon.

Tylor was hired as a scarer, but arrives just as the change went from scare to laugh. instead of becoming a lead scarer on the scare floor, he is shoved in the basement to work with the Monsters Incorporated Facilities Team, better know as MIFT. Basically he is a repair man for the machinery in Monsters Inc.

While we get to meet a bunch of new characters, Sulley and Mike make frequent cameos, and we event get to see what happens to the Abominable Snowman. Check it out on Disney+ to see each episode of the series as they are released.

To celebrate the new series, Disney’s Facebook page released a fun recipe featuring our frozen furry friend, The Abominable Snowman. His recipe is, no shock here, Lemon Snow Cones. I had to share it!

To make the Snow Cones:

6 Lemons
2 cups of sugar
2 Tbsp of Corn Syrup
1/4 cup water
Yellow food coloring

Step 1: Squeeze Lemons to make about 1 cup of lemon juice
Step 2: Combine lemon juice, sugar, corn syrup, and water in a pot. Simmer over medium heat. Whisk until everything combines.

Step 3: Remove mixture from heat and let cool. Add yellow food coloring and stir until mixture is bright yellow
Step 4 Make shaved ice using a blender or snow cone machine

Step 5 Combine shaved ice and yellow syrup mixture in a large bowl mix until ice is fully covered
Step 6: Serve the mixture in paper cones

Now Enjoy!

The Official Batman Advent Calendar: Christmas In Gotham City – Review

The Bat is back to help all of us celebrate Christmas in Gotham City with fun surprises for the 25 days of Advent! From book to calendar, this marvelous creation will get Batman fans flying to the epic packets to see what is inside. Thanks to Insight Editions, this official calendar will be ready to decorate our homes for the holidays.

Ring in the holidays with Batman, Robin, the Joker, and many more Gotham City super heroes and super villains with this one-of-a-kind Advent Calendar! Open each of the 25 packets to reveal a new holiday keepsake inspired by the world of the Dark Knight, like The Joker Playing Cards, Wayne Industries office supplies, Alfred Pennyworth’s recipe cards, and many more fun and unique gifts. This timeless collectible is the perfect way for fans of the Caped Crusader to celebrate the holidays!

I received a copy of this advent calendar and here is my thoughts on the Caped Crusaders official Advent Calendar.

First impressions: this advent calendar is everything we love about the classic batman cartoons. It features classic artwork of Batman, Robin, The Joker, Harley Quinn, and the Batmobile! It even has a classic drawing of Santa with the super hero duo. It uses the comic book style blocks to separate the images to create a fun little comic book panel. The back continues the classic batman feel with images of The Riddler, The Penguin, and Cat Woman. I absolutely love the design and can’t wait to see what is inside!

The classic story continues to the official calendar and the 25 packets! Each envelope features classic comic book images with Batman the main focal point. Each packet features a number that we get to open on the corresponding day in December. This is gonna be a hard one to wait for, but like my previous Advent reviews, I will open 5 envelopes and share what is inside. The numbers are 23, 17, 11, 5, 1

Envelope #1 contains a Season Greeting mini book that features images of old Detective comic books. It is adorable and classic. I am not sure what to do with it, maybe I will stick it in my wallet and show it off to fellow fans.

Envelope #5 contains contains 2 small bookmarks featuring the skyline of Gotham City and the bat mobile. Absolutely awesome for all us readers out there. What’s even cooler is these could double as small tree ornaments.

Envelope #11 contains a toothpick umbrella. At first I was like…oook. I guess this could be a play on the penguin. Then I opened it. It has the little image and name of the penguin. It is kind of a cheap way to signify the evil genius, but it works.

Envelope 17 contains a sticker with Robin’s classic logo. Cute, useful, I like it.

Envelope 23 contains an image on a clear plastic sheet. Instructions: In a dark or dimly lit room, shine a light through the image to project the Bat-Signal against a blank wall or ceiling.

I have to say this is bat-tastic! I will be spending a few hours playing with this toy. Maybe I can find a great place to put it with the perfect light so when I have Amazon Alexa turn it on, it will display the Bat Symbol. I will call the light Call Batman. “Alexa, Call Batman.”

These five items are certainly fun to use and display. I really like the light feature. I am now curious to see what else is inside. Since I am writing a review, I don’t have to wait until Christmas. I get to check them all out now. The slideshow below will contain spoilers of all 25 envelopes. if you want to keep this a surprise, don’t use the slideshow…SPOILERS.

The Official Batman Advent Calendar is definitely a fun way to celebrate the 25 days of Christmas. The gifts are adorable! I am not exactly sure what to do with most of the mini books since they are basically just tiny images on pages, but they are cute. I love the flashlight shadow screens and the item in envelope 12! I wish envelope 8 came with an entire deck of themed cards, but I love the 4 they give us. All in all, it is a neat collection. Many of these items are very well made and Batman fans are sure to love the keepsakes. I give this Advent Calendar 5 stars.

Home Alone The Official AAAAAAdvent Calendar – Review

One of the highest grossing movies of the holiday season is Home Alone. Millions of people love watching Kevin McCallister and his crazy traps as he attempts to save his home from the Wet Bandits, Harold “Harry” Lime and Marvin “Marv” Merchants. From stepping on glass ornaments to Paint buckets in the face, the crazy death defying traps bring laughter to us all…how disturbing is that?

Knowing our love for the wonderfully done Home Alone movie, Insight Editions has created a fun Christmas Advent Calendar featuring iconic items and moments from the movie. This Advent Calendar is different than others I have reviewed. Instead of receiving gifts to keep, it comes with a pop up tree to decorate! Each day we open a door and receive an ornament. We then hang it on the tree for our Christmas Countdown.

I actually received the Advent Colander to review. Here is what I think about this aaaaaadvent calendar.

Home Alone is a staple of mine here at the Galeana house. We watch it every Christmas Season. Who am I kidding, we watch this movie all year round. Whenever we need a laugh, we pop it in , make some popcorn, and begin the adventure. So when this arrived in the mail to review, my entire family couldn’t wait to check it out.

At first glance, the Home Alone Official Advent Calendar looks like a story book. The cover features Kevin with his hilarious screaming face and the McCallister home in the background. The back cover feature the back of the McCallister home and Harry and Marv before things went down. The book before opened is about 12.5 x 12.5 inches.

When the book opens, that’s when things get real. As one opens the book, the tree begins to unfold and stand in the center of the board. The entire surface features the inside of the home from the stairway to the bedrooms to the basement and even the club house. Each doorway within the design has a gold number etched on it telling each of us which to open first.

What is really cool, is there is a door we get to open before the Advent begins! inside the door in the upper left hand corner is a gold image of a book. Open it up and we get Kevin’s Guide to (Harmless) Holiday Pranks! Take that in for a moment…We get to play pranks at Christmas! From wrapping random household items to making Santa footprints in the home, this book has a ton of fun that the whole family will enjoy. Bring it out each year to make these pranks a tradition. Who says April Fools is the only date to play a prank?

The family fun doesn’t end there! Once the prank book is displayed and ready, the 25 day countdown begins! Each day, a family member can open a door to get the ornament inside. Then they hang it on the pop-up tree. By the end of the Advent there will be 24 ornaments on the tree featuring items from the movie, such as ornaments, a paint can, a glue gun, a snow shovel, and even Harry’s hand with the letter M. My favorite one is probably the toothbrush, the item that made Kevin an official criminal.

The ornaments are made from a high gloss thick paper that are bright and colorful adorned with a little gold string to hang it somewhere on the tree. Getting to them is a bit difficult. There is an opening with a tab that we are supposed to use to pull up the door. DO NOT DO THIS! Because the doors are so tightly closed, pulling the tab separates the image from the cardboard closure. Basically it rips it apart. To try and open the door, I grabber a small pair of scissors to slide in and open the compartment…DON’T DO THIS EITHER. it tears into the beautiful artwork. Instead use a non-sharp thin yet stiff object to open the door and leave it by the calendar, something about the size of a thin butter knife should work. If done right, after Christmas, the ornaments can be placed back inside the packets in a random order and saved for next year to use again. Since the ornaments are put away randomly, only the person who put it away will know what’s next…if they can remember a year later hahaha.

The final item is the tree topper to be opened December 25th. This will complete the look and the Christmas Tree is ready for Santa. I LOVE THE TREE TOPPER! It is so funny! However, I do know that that last decoration should probably be a surprise so if you want to see the surprise click the image below and check it out. If not, pass up the image and continue reading the review.

From the Book to the pop-up tree to the final tree topper, I love this Home Alone Official Advent Calendar. It is engaing, interactive, and fun for the whole family. The illustrations are hilarious, the ornaments are iconic, and the whole experience screams Home Alone. To top it all off, the aaaadvent calendar comes with a fun prank book just for the holidays. I give The Home Alone Official Aaaaaadvent Calendar five stars. In fact my family will be using this calendar every year. The pop up tree will have it’s own little place to decorate for Christmas.

Will That be Ice Cream or a Coloring Page?

Picture it. It is 8 pm and the craving for the most amazing Grasshopper Pie Blizzard hits you in the face. Yeah, this is a craving that must be satisfied and I just so happen to know of a specific Dairy Queen that knows how to make said Blizzard. In fact, this specific Dairy Queen is the only one that will satisfy my cravings as I have been denied by others saying it doesn’t exist. The Rathdrum, Idaho Dairy Queen gets me.

Anyway, it is 8pm and my friend Michelle and I head out to the best place to get ice cream. Of course, at the time, I had no idea that I would regress into a state of childhood love with a box of crayons and a simple Back to School coloring page, but hat is just what happened. After ordering my lovely sweet Grasshopper Pie Blizzard, I grabbed a coloring page from the counter and was handed a box of 36 crayons. Oh yes, this was no 3 crayon joint, this was an entire box filled with a rainbow of colors to choose from. My friend and I quickly sat down and began our coloring adventure.

The moment the crayon touched the paper I was shot back into the 90s coloring at my desk. Time Travel is real at Dairy Queen. The crayons that we were using at that moment were nothing short of 90s gold. Recently, I have noticed that crayons have lost their spark. The coloring is dull and the ability to create camo or florescent swirls has been lost to a stiff structure. It’s a sad world for crayons right now, unless you are Playskool.

The ice cream trip turned into an amazing crayon discovery. The Playsckool Crayons we were handed to make our awesome designs were nothing short of amazing. They had the perfect waxy feel that allowed for bleed effects, bright colors, and perfect crayon-to-paper feel. I have fallen in love with Playskool crayons. I am not sure if their washable crayons are different from their “original” crayons, but I do know that this box of crayons is a time traveling portal in nostalgia.

What was supposed to be a quick ice cream trip actually turned into an hour of coloring at a DQ table trying to get a page colored before they closed their doors. It was a rush and yet a moment to savor is crayon history.

Unfortunately, I had to return the box of epicness so that others could also use the colors to create their amazing pages of color. It was a fun experience and a wonderful opportunity for us to take a moment and just enjoy eating ice cream and coloring. Hopefully my art is good enough to make the board…I will be checking.

Disclosure: Dairy Queen did not purchase or ask for me to write this revie. I simply wanted ice cream and learned about an awesome box of crayons and had to share. I only share and recommend products or services I think will be a good fit for my readers. All the opinions are 100% my own. In exchange for referrals, some posts may contain affiliate links that I may receive commission for payment. (See more here)

Charming, fun, and great for all ages, this Advent Calendar is an unforgettable gift for any Star Wars fan!

Insight Editions sent me a copy of this Advent Calendar and here is what I think:

Let me be completely honest, I am a Star Wars fan. I love almost anything Star Wars, from the books to the movies, I collect them all. In fact, I have a huge collection of comic books and action figures that decorate my home in all their galactic awesomeness. So when I got the chance to review this Advent Calendar I jumped at the chance.

I love the cover of this calendar. Vader, Boba Fett, and several troopers are all singing carols with ornaments above their heads depicting famous star wars characters and ships. If I had one critique, I would say that the colors are just a bit dull for the Star Wars series. They needed a much brighter red with an almost glossy tone to give it the Lightsaber-glow feel.

Inside the duller colors continue, but the images of a Star Wars Christmas are amazing. 25 envelopes feature several graphic images that showcase Yoda, Luke, Jango, a Porg, and many other creatures, ships, and characters from the Star Wars franchise. My favorite decorated envelope is number 14, the AT-AT envelope. Envelope 22 has me saying, “It’s A Trap” every time I look at it.

Like my previous Advent Calendar reviews, I will be opening 5 random envelopes and sharing what is inside. However, this time, they are not so random, I will be opening 14 because of the AT-AT and 22 because of Ackbar. The other numbers included in the reveal will be 2, 9, and 18, which were chosen at random.

Envelope 2 contains Host Your Own Cantina Holiday Party mini book. It features a list of Star Wars Holiday Music titles, Lothal Spicebrew recipe, Bantha Chai recipe, and a Mos Eisley Cantina Cupcake recipe. This mini book also doubles as an ornament.

Envelope 9 contains a candy cane lightsaber pencil. Would a red and white holiday candy cane lightsaber be light side or dark side?

Envelope 14 contains a popup mini greeting card featuring Vader and his Christmas workshop. OMG! The stormtroopers are elves! hehehe

Envelope 18 contains two recipe cards: Life Day Cake (stir, whip, stir, whip, stir, whip whip, stir) and Won-Taun Tundra Treats (might be smelly).

Envelope 22 contains 4 Star Wars film characters images with their famous quotes printed on the back The images are a bit dark but they are cute and will work well as bookmarks.

Other items included in this advent calendar are a Darth Vader button, a Kylo Ren Keychain, a phone accessory, and much more! In fact, I kind of want to share another envelope that made me laugh so hard. but that means I will ruin the surprise! Just note that Day 20 promises to be hilarious. If you wish to see what is contained in each envelope and ruin the surprise, use the slideshow below. Each image will feature five envelopes and what is inside.

WARNING: This Slideshow contains spoilers. Do not use this slideshow if you wish the envelopes to remain a secret. Don’t fall for the temptations of the darks ide. Wait, and enjoy each surprise each day. Of course for you dark side followers, the spoilers are below.

I absolutely love the fun candy cane lightsaber pencils, the hilarious recipe cards, the magnet (probably one of my favorite items), and the other iconic Holiday items this advent calendar has to offer. The items are well made and will make any star wars fan happy to have them. The mini books in this collection are from a cheaper paper than other advent calendars in this collection, but they still hold wonderful information regarding Star Wars and Star Wars parties. The Christmas Tags will certainly be adorning some gifts to friends this year.

I give this advent calendar five stars. I am sure fellow Star Wars fans will enjoy the galactic surprises that await them through the 25 days of Advent.

For those that would like to grab a copy of the Official Star Wars Advent Calendar head over to Amazon.com (affiliate link). Once December 1st hits, its time to begin the adventure!
