Free Jurassic World Activity Pages

Indominus Rex Display

I was walking through the electronics store the other day looking at the latest tech, games and new releases. My goal was to buy Jurassic World on Blu-Ray. After seeing the movie on the big screen, I had to own a copy. Not to mention that, for now, it completes my Jurassic Park collection.

The setup for Jurassic World was EPIC! It consisted of a large Indominus Rex and it was so large I could practically see it from he other side of the store. I certainly had no trouble finding my much needed movie in this store. I think I probably admired the cardboard decoration for a good minute thinking about how cool it would be to display a large Indominus Rex in my home. Imagine this beautiful cardboard setup greeting my visitors. Yeah, a girl can dream.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After my moment of awe, I scanned the Blu-Rays quickly looking for the perfect one. I like to be sure I am getting the complete set with digital copy and DVD. It’s a good thing I looked through each shelf for my perfect movie because sitting in a neat little stack on the bottom shelf of the Cardboard Indominus Rex Display were these awesome Jurassic World Activity Pages that the store was giving out for FREE. Oh I was not gonna pass this up! Let me just say they are in color and on glossy paper; high quality for an activity page and the real deal. I will admit I grabbed a few. I knew there were other members in my family that would love to get a copy as well.

Of course, when I started telling my friends and family about these awesome activity pages, many of them told me they have never seen them. Heartbreaking. I couldn’t leave them activity-less, so I scanned my copy and sent them a PDF. That started an explosion. I was getting emails with tons of requests for the little PDF I made. I figured the best way to handle this was post the PDF and let anyone who needs a copy download it for themselves. Easy and Quick.

To grab a copy, click the image below and save the PDF to your computer. The activity pages include:

  • Isla Nublar – Word Solve
  • Creation Lab – Color The Dinos
  • Park Cam – Spot the Difference
  • Raptor Training – Maze
  • Know Your Park; Know Your Dinosaurs, Know Your Facts – Crossword

The New 10 Dollar Bill Will Feature a Woman #TheNew10

19 Days of Suffragette 12

Throughout American History, our currency has featured images of great leaders and landmarks that express our American values. For example, the last theme created on our currency was “The Symbols of Freedom.” The State of Liberty’s Torch ($10), the Great Seal of the United States ($5), the Eagle ($20), the American Flag ($50) and the Declaration of Independence ($100) are all symbols of America and the freedom we posses. While this theme has been a part of our currency since 2003, it will not be for much longer. It is time for a change to a new theme and a new look.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

According to the The New 10 website, the new currency theme will be “An Era of Democracy.”

Over the last few years, Treasury staff has worked to identify potential themes reflective of the values of our current era. After historical research and reviews of previous designs and themes, democracy was chosen by Treasury Secretary Jack Lew as the theme for this next generation of currency.

From the founding of the nation, democratic ideals, and our striving to make those ideals a reality, have defined the United States of America. Our continuing efforts as a nation to form a more perfect union are something we plan to use the next family of Federal Reserve notes to celebrate thenew10

In 2020 we will see one of the most dramatic changes to our U.S. Currency. The $10 Bill will be introduced with a new face, and not just any face, but the face of a Notable American Woman. The U.S. Department of the Treasury is currently in the process of deciding which inspiring American woman will appear on the $10 bill.

What Woman do you want on the 10 dollar bill

This week during the ‪#19daysofsuffrage campaign, I would love for you to think about the women through history who have inspired you. Who do you think would be a worthy candidate for #TheNew10? There are many to choose from!

  • women’s rights leader Susan B. Anthony,
  • civil rights activists Rosa Parks & Harriet Tubman,
  • mental health rights activist Dorothea Dix,
  • disability rights activist Helen Keller
  • and so many more

State what notable women you would like to see On #TheNew10 in the comments below. Share the image above with hashtag #TheNew10 with your choice to make your voice heard. Use #TheNew10 hashtag to tell the U.S. Department of the Treasury your ideas, symbols, designs or any other feedback that can inform the Secretary as he considers options for the $10 redesign.

Then be sure to enter for a chance to win our ‪#19daysofsuffrage Giveaway. The prize is a Suffragette Tote Bag, Journal, Bracelet and Mini Poster by clicking the image below.

Christmas Presents for that Geek in Your Life

Geeky Christmas Gifts

The easiest people to buy for are usually the geeks in the family. As long as it’s in our fandom, you will hit a home run. Take me for instance. My family knows I love all things Star Wars (minus Jar Jar). They also know I don’t mind having duplicates because I like to have one to display and one to keep Mint in Box (MIB). Trust me, this is a trait most collectors have and we are often misrepresented as hoarders. However, during this time of year, no one thinks twice about watching our collections grow; I love this time of year.

This trait is not limited to Star Wars Fans. Doctor Who Fans (Whovians), Star Trek Fans (Trekkies), Gadget Geeks and other fandoms are all pretty simple to buy for. Of course, there is that occasional fan that has double of everything and sometimes triple of everything. Those geeks can be difficult to buy for if you are hoping to get them something new and unique. I have some tips that will help you through this Christmas Season with the “hard to buy for” geeks.

  1. Have them make a Christmas List.
  2. Let’s face it, you can’t read minds. A list with a few details about the items they want will ensure they get the correct gadgets/toys. This is especially important with gadgets and their comparability with computers and other forms of technology. When in doubt, ask. Your geek will apperciate it.
    |

  3. Have your geek make a wish list at ThinkGeek, Amazon, or their favorite shopping location.
  4. This will ensure they get the correct gift because they have marked it as wanted. This will also prevent duplicate presents because the items will be marked as purchased.
    |

  5. Make them something
  6. Nothing will be more unique than a DIY gift made from the heart. A Geeky Quilt, shirt, dessert, or anything else you have in mind will be geektastic. For Geeky food ideas, look up your fandom’s cookbooks such as the Star Wars Cookbooks, Star Trek Cookbooks, the Doctor Who Cookbook, or the Geek Cookbook, which contains recipes from Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones and more.

I have also included a list below of many of the geeky toys on the top of the Geek list. Perhaps the list will help you with ideas or provide the exact item you need. 😀

Frosty Pumpkin Smoothie from R. W. Knudsen Family

Libby's Pumpkin Puree

I had just finished making my famous Pumpkin Cookies for all my friends and family and I look down to see I had a little less than half a cup of pumpkin puree left. It is a conundrum that happens every year when I am baking, I always have a small amount of left over Pumpkin Puree. I could never bring myself to throw it out because it is so darn delicious. So every year, I started finding random recipes that took a small amount of pumpkin puree and making them. It has since become something of a tradition in my family as everyone gets to try new pumpkin treats every year.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Of course with every new recipe, there is a chance of the, “I should never have tried that shock” baking it’s ugly face into existence. My family has been a victim to a few of the crazy pumpkin recipes out there. But for the most part, we have enjoyed the delicious taste of pumpkin especially in Pumpkin pancakes and pumpkin ice cream. This year we decided to try something even more different. I was told about a Pumpkin Smoothie (yeah, it scared us at first as well) that took very little time and included one of my favorite holiday spices, nutmeg. With the right amount of pumpkin puree needed and the nutmeg ready, I quickly made this rather easy concoction.

Frosty Pumpkin Smoothie

Let me just say, Delicious. Who knew that apple juice and pumpkin puree could blend so well? I didn’t. I did change a few things within the recipe. My family is allergic to soy so I used 1/2 cup of VAT milk instead. It makes it creamier. I also baked the pumpkin seeds and then chopped them. I find that pumpkin seeds taste so much better when they are cooked. but other than that I kept the rest the same. I am sure you can choose your own organic apple juice for the recipe, but since the recipe comes from the R.W. Knudsen Family®, they suggest their apple juice. Who can blame them.

This recipe was found on R.W. Knudsen Family® website. They have many more recipes that are worth a try! I suggest going over there and checking out what they have to offer. In the mean time, here is the Frosty Pumpkin Smoothie recipe that is worth a try.

Frosty Pumpkin Smoothie from R. W. Knudsen Family

  • Servings: 2-3
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups R.W. Knudsen Family® Organic Apple Juice
  • 1/3 cup pure canned pumpkin (I suggest Libby’s)
  • 1/2 cup milk or plain soy milk (I used VAT milk)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 2 tablespoons raw hulled pumpkin seeds, chopped (I baked mine)
  • 2 to 3 fresh apple wedges
Frosty Pumpkin Smoothie

Directions

  1. BLEND juice, pumpkin, milk, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and crushed ice in blender until smooth.
  2. Pour into 2 to 3 glasses. Sprinkle a few pumpkin seeds on top of each if desired. Decorate rim of glass with apple wedge.

The Heroes in Our Lives and Our Country

19 Days of Suffrage Day 8.1

Today is one of the most important days of the year, Veteran’s Day. It is that time of year where we honor our Veterans and thank them for all they have done. Really, there is nothing we could do to ever repay them for their service and sacrifice, but a ‘thank you’ can go a long way. The men and women who fought, died, and are fighting for this country are some of the biggest heroes this nation could ever have. I think, in honor of these heroes and in honor of Veteran’s Day, we continue the #19DaysofSuffrage campaign by reflecting on those who have sacrificed to provide our freedoms. Take a moment and thank a Veteran, have your kids sit down and talk with a Veteran, get them to think about how everything this one person did ensured our freedoms we have today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After the quality time with a Veteran, get the whole family together and think about these questions.

  1. Do you have heroes in your family?
  2. Who is your hero?
  3. Are they Military or Non-Military?

Share your thoughts in the comments below and give a shout out to your heroes.

While reflecting on your heroes, take a moment to think about all the women fighters in the military. Did you know it wasn’t until 1948 when congress passed the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act? This granted women permanent status in the military subject to military authority and regulations and entitled to veterans benefits. Women served in the military long before that Act was signed. In fact, in WWI, 400,000 women served at home and abroad as mechanics, ambulance drives, pilots, administrators, nurses, and in other non-combat roles. However, it wasn’t until 1948 when they were granted benefits and permanent status. That was only 67 years ago. Think about how far we have come and how far we still have to go.

Suffragette: Hope For Our Daughters

19 Days of Suffragette 6

The #19daysofsuffrage campaign continues with a message of Hope. This week marks an important day for US citizens, Veteran’s Day. It is a day where we honor those who have fought, died and are fighting in the military for the freedoms that we have and to ensure our freedoms remain. Veteran’s Day reminds every US citizen that we would not be where we are today without our Military Heroes. We thank them and their service, their sacrifices, and their strength.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It is important to also note that our freedoms were also fought within our country; women throughout the years have fought for equal rights. Women have fought and suffered to show that they (we) are equal to men. We have come a long way, but we still have so far to go.

Read the following statements and decide whether you think these facts were true in 1915 or in 2015. Then watch the video, #HopeForOurDaughters Special Video, to find out if you were correct.
